Everybody wants to be a porndirector because we all know we could do a better job than most directors out there!

I myself would shoot more big butt chicks, male midgets and foot-fetish stuff, I guess I would try to be a mix between John Stagliano, Jim Powers and Mark Kulkis ;-)

Everyone thinks they can be a great porn director, and make better porn, but so few actually are, or do become a great director.

We should change this Topic to a "what we would do differently" kind of thing. I've been a professional photographer for a long time (for me) and I am usually amazed at how bad the lighting in most porn is, especially considering the many inexpensive ways there are to have decent lighting. I recently had some very expensive continous souce lights go out and had to rig up some Home Depot lights to do the job. The product was compareable and I only spent $50 on lights and some tissue paper (soft box). All you need for an outdoor scene should be a reflector and the right time of day but I always see overly contrasty movies. Any ways I'm sure there are plenty of decent photographers willing to work on this stuff, half of the guys I worked for in school did porno shoots on the side, at night, probably with the hope of some dirty sex lovin' afterward.

This is a bit of a grudge topic for me.

I performed very well at school and uni (despite an attendance troughing at 11/240 lectures in my second year) and have got into Mensa properly (rather than the US version '57 varieties' methods) but my working life is that of a Firefighter who has recently agreed to a pay deal worse than I would have received without striking (FYI I was all for rejecting and carrying on with industrial action) and I am soooooo totally pissed off with my 'career' I don't care if the whole fucking country burns down, fuck 'em, fuck the lot of 'em!

I don't know whether I could be a porn director but I'm damned sure I could play a part in forwarding the business and positively contributing to the industry. The whole porn business seems to have done such a grand job of preaching to the converted over the yars and never tackling the wider market (ironically, those that do attempt to 'spread the word' are usually the last people you'd really want to!).

Still, at least I can spend a couple of hours in the gym on works time each day!

since the vince voyouer stuff came out is it just me who's amazed at how bad the red light district do the 'amatuer cameraman stuff' if its not overexposed buttchecks for five minutes its a close up of skin pores then back to the widescreen bangin' it is not an easy form to copy thats for sure

It's not you, I've complained many times before that Vince Voyeur should improve his camerwork, no close-ups all the time, take a step back and take a total shot of what's going on. Also, use more different angels when doing DP. At those I really scream out that I should be behind the camera directing because I know I would get better angles.

Directing a pornmovie is easy if you know what you're doing.
