Just did a quick google and this is published by Grove Press! Probably the first porn bio to be printed by such a respected literary press, I loved their Black Cat books and they're the North America publishers of heavy weights like Beckett, Burroughs, etc.
^ Yep. I received my copy this week and it's definitely upscale. Grove Press, really well-designed and bound, and with an introduction by Annie Sprinkle. Asa was on NPR this week also (being asked incredibly superficial questions).

I went over to Amazon and ordered it right away. I'm tired of all those pussy-fiction-attention-whores-writers showing up on TV as wannabes every now and then, telling me what they're up two and what they been into and how deep down they got as if that was of any goddamn interest of mine, regardless of that being women or men, I'm by now much more up to some hands on hardcore value piece of work based on hot-to-be-reality. And I know she ain't bluffing. She's not a pretender for God's sake. Amen to that. From the very first time Akira showed up on a DVD I knew that was a smart one and a good one. I could tell by her eyes and her calm attitude and nice laughter and the fact she was a classy one coming from New York, all this made her a bit special. It was a Voyeur-flick back then, Make Me Creamy, I thought Nicole Ray was worth it alone so I bought it back in 2008, soon to find out that the opening scene with this new asian was the hottest treat, and the scene, man, it rocked a lot. She went for the good companies, was in the great titles and did partners that could lift the projects, like Chris Charming in Too Small To Take It All for Third Degree, instantly becoming one of my favorite DVDs all over the line. Her last tribute to my collection was comming around only days ago, now as a director, Elegant Angel's great, great DVD featuring Presley Hart and Kennedy Leigh, those being two of the best scenes I've scene lately. And there's still three to go: Best New Starlets 2014 really tells me that there still can be great DVDs to come over. Presley Hart shot from behind in doggie is worth the price alone. And the talking before the scenes is from another planet compared to what I'm used to being served. This is often a cold dish. Not here. But I have got my oral verbal standardized overdoze from the likes of John Strong and Mick Blue and others that simply do ALL the talking whatsoever as directors. Akira plays in another league as a director by letting the performers do the talking. And last but not least; the colors and backgrounds nearly took me back to 2005's luxury mansions. There's not this white boring Elegant Angel walls I used to get my shivering from as if it was from an area around the North Pole. Amen to that, too.

I read the chapter linked on her own thread and I will say that it was an extremely painful read. This is one of those cases where the illusion/fantasy of the girl is completely spoiled the minute they enter the reality.
^ Without violating etiquette, what was painful about it? I'm about to start reading...

It's was boring drivel. There was nothing remotely interesting or fascinating about the passage linked. Just because someone is a porn star or any celebrity for that matter it doesn't make what they have to say compelling, or even readable.
^ And you're sure that your illusion/fantasy about Asa Akira was primarily that she has compelling things to say? And that's why it is now destroyed? I mean, many people would possibly fantasize about other things about Asa...e.g. her physical appearance or sex scenes.
Interesting details: "...This guy Frederick-from-Malibu was notorious for seeing girls in porn, a big-time CEO of a huge, very commercial, very family-friendly company." And later on: "When Frederick opened the door, the first thing I noticed was that he was black. I had been hearing about this guy for years, and in my mind, he was white. Not like it really mattered. It’s like that weird sensation when you pick up a drink thinking it’s gonna be water, and as the liquid hits your tongue you realize it’s Coca-Cola...He flashed a mouth full of expensive-looking, well-done veneers." I'm lovin' it - her story, well written!
I'm assuming the name/location is made up, but if "Frederick of Malibu" really is a black CEO of a huge family-friendly corporation, it might be able to figure out his identity.

^ I suspect it's the same dude who was involved in the Samantha Saint matter. If so, Asa's description would be a little bit off, but close enough to connect the dots given his notoriety in such circles. I imagine ADT would prefer that his name not be posted here in the Forum (again), but a quick google search should suffice.

Actually, I have no illusions about celebrities as I've been in the entertainment industry for years and have met numerous. And, you're missing the point I was making.

I must have missed it too, because I'm not sure what your issue is either.
^ I think he means that the story was rubbish and generally uninteresting and the writing was poor?

Thank you and you are correct. All I was saying is the just because someone is a celebrity/famous/star is doesn't make them smart/fascinating/beautiful or remotely interesting. Put me in a few movies/hit TV show/magazine covers and I'm as good looking as George Clooney and will have thousands of people hanging onto my every word like its some great proclamation. Take away the fame along with the professional hair and makeup people and I'm just another clown on the street. (See the National Inquirer "Stars without Makeup" Issue) I've literally seen thousands of people hanging onto Oprah's every word as she talked about talking a dump (no exaggeration) and they applauded her at the end of the story when she used the automatic ass dryer. My perspective is this, I'm a porn critic so I have no emotional/financial attachment to the material I review, so if it's up to or not up to par I'll either not review it or give it a good/bad review. Without such attachment, I'm able to offer an objective review of the material presented. Thus my review is not skewed by the fact that I spent 3 hours of my life in line and $25 to meet an author and to have her sign a book. Based on my work experience I could easily be a mainstream entertainment critic; however, my writing ability is such that I could be published in a medium tier newspaper if you gave me a 5 day deadline versus a 3 hour deadline.
^ So your illusion/fantasy of Asa consisted of intelligence/intellectualism and you were disappointed by the poor writing. Fair enough.

I will only say that Rosco F has come up with some strange analytics over the years. I e.g. bought a 3 DVD package based only on his 5 star ratings all over. (Revenge Of The Petites) That package was not very worth blasting about if you're used to good porn. Because it was softcore and GG and classroomsitting mostly and meant for an audience I don't think is on this board and he never told me this. He just made me wanna go to sleep and stay sleeping for a day or two.
^ You need to look up softcore as Revenge of the Petites is not a softcore film. And it also carries a five star rating from fu_q and a four and a half star rating from Astroknight. Having seen it, it very much deserves the ratings it is getting. I wouldn't blast someone because your tastes differ.

The lack of hardcore made it softcare to me. Anyhow there was nothing in the review telling me that the movie had about twentfive seconds and not even a minute of hardcore action in it. I trust what I see, been eating my bluberries and carrots and chilies and seadfood lately. What I read was up to debate here.
Now you are not being accurate, with under a minute of hardcore footage that would make each scene under seven seconds. Considering that one of the scenes alone consists of five interlaced scenes that would be under a second and a half for each one.
I read the free sample on my kindle, and I am planning on reading the rest of it. Not sure if I'm getting it on Kindle or used, but I didn't think it was all that badly written. Asa's story about the Frederic of Malibu dude was sort of dead pan and amusing. Imho.

I dunno do the math right maybe, but I bought the DVDs expecting some action. First I got was much storybased stuff with clothes on. Then even more. And more. And girl on girl action. And more of that. I remember Talon showing up. In a classsroom. The most I got to see with him was over in seconds not minutes. Tell me if I'm lying. I finally had to fast forward. I never ever tend do so. But here I just got desperate for some action, ending up being very very disappointed.
^ That's so sad you did not enjoy the film. Add me to the long list of people who love the film. Imo the best porn film of 2013. It is without a doubt hardcore (was the sex simulated? no). So it would appear you contention that no one on this forum would like that kind of porn is dead wrong. Edited by - Gore Gore Girl on 5/19/2014 4:26:12 PM

This is not sad at all, the sad thing is that I 1) either have to see it over again to find if I really missed something when it comes to banging, and I'm not speaking of quality actresses doing a great, great dialogue job or fine features of schoolbuildings and girl on girl action here, oh no! 2) Rosco F's five stars rating in every manner was in fact not very much nailed into the closer details you may wish come along with such gradings. 3) This had to do with Asa Akira's book and some critisism I found out was a little worth doubting about comming from a source that has it's proven sense of going in another direction when ever it may be the case.

Now I've taken my time to read through the Revenge Of The Petites reviews. I am obviously on the wrong planet here, being told that this is better than everything and that you just have to buy it. Well I bought it and kept it and never threw it away. That put aside, because if was not considered jerk off material. I can go for hours big time but in this case I had motivation problems doing three minutes becasuse the scenes only lasted for two minutes at its best... It was not worth five stars IMO then. I'm still on the wrong planet, hoping to come back soon. Give some oxygene, and pray for me. There still maybe some hope left.

Not my illusion/fantasy at all. I've been around too many celebrities to know that the public image and the non public person are two way different things, but to the average person who only runs into a celeb once every 5 years , their outlook is going to be different. Bottom line is in my professional, opinion there is nothing that a porn can say that is worth a whole book, a short article yes, but a whole book? Not at all. More power to a star of they do manage to get a book deal, I don't begrudge them that, but as a far there being very much substance to the book, not at all as you get the passage currently being discussed. I'm goings to revisit my Petites review when I get home later as I've never had someone tell me my review was off the mark before.
^ So your sentence: ____________________ This is one of those cases where the illusion/fantasy of the girl is completely spoiled the minute they enter the reality. ________________________ was not about your OWN illusion/fantasy being spoiled, but in general about others that might have illusions/fantasies about Asa Akira. Okay, now I get it. I had assumed since you started with your own personal perspective that this topic (being disillusioned) would also still about your own experience. Thanks for clearing it up.

Here my problem comes in. Because you see it this way does not mean that it is the way Things work. (And why the fuck do big letters pop up here every time.) I myself got fed up Meeting celebrities being sixteen. I had by then met sportsmen, stopped Eric Heiden, Maradona, talked to Carl Lewis, hung up Paul Breitner and everything collecting autographs along the way. But that did not mean I got tired of their being. So I bought Maradona's autobiography fifteen years later, and Kevin Keegan's too. Now I even bought Asa Akira's. The Public image and the story behind the scenes are two different Components. (New big letter keeps popping up and I now don't give a fuck) And that is the reason why I got to check out their stories. Not a reson not to. They say superstars are arrogant. But they often are not. But in my mind most people are. They will never go to the source but they flow in the stream thinking they know everything.

First off, this is only the second time someone has commented on a review I've posted so I'm glad to see someone actually reads them. When it comes to my reviews, I'm reviewing the material as it was presented. I'm not comparing it to other releases, so if you bought this release based on my recommendation alone I'm flattered but at no point did I say it was a hardcore raunchfest. Revisit my review and look down towards the bottom where I recap it with Pluses, Minuses, Is it worth it?, and most importantly "Sleaziness Factor (1-10)" I gave it a 2 and indicated the 2 was for the characters broadcasting the Petites escapades over the net. Revenge of the Petites was a very good release and I said so. A half a dozen other critics said the same time.
Having read the book, it's a very quick read, it's not all that great. There are some funny bits, and you learn quite a bit about Asia, but everything stays near the surface.

Although not masterfully written I thought Jerry Butler's book Raw Talent and the better written and quite disturbing book by Ashley Blue were both good. Even Jerry's book captures the way he talks quite well. An early book by Tina Russell is also worth reading I think.
