This looks like Brad Armstrong's big grab for the AVN awards for films, and it sure looks nice, but I can't say it worked 100 percent for me.
The gist: On her wedding day, Stormy receives a family heirloom and hears the story behind it. The scenes are set in the 1800s or so, so it's period sex with costumes and such.
Pros: Stormy in a wedding dress. Very beautiful. And if you like period costumes, they're pretty nice. Lots of big hair, done nicely. And a couple of times, you get good shots of those pretty cleavage-baring dresses slooowly coming down to reveal vast expanses of boobflesh in lovely golden light. Not bad.
*Good cast. I always like to see Eva Angelina in a feature, and she looks great as an old-timey prostitute. Keri Sable's entrance to her scene (or her butt's entrance, to be accurate) is pretty marvelous. And if anal is essential to you, Keri, Michelle Lay and Shay Sights provide it.
*Stormy's mom is played by Veronica Hart. She does a good job with all the dialogue she has, and I still have the hots for her. What is she up to now? I miss her.
Cons: The dialogue can get a little stilted, even in the modern-day framing conversation. Not so natural.
*Man, the story is a bit of a downer, which is even noted in the script. Not to spoil anything for you (skip ahead if you like), but Stormy (as her own great-great-grandmother) is forced to give up her first true love to marry an asshole rich guy, leaves him, sees her beloved horse killed, has her house burnt down and her second true love killed, and is forced to go back to the asshole. Geez.
Bottom line: It's funny, my first impression is that I didn't love it, but I don't have a lot of bad things to say. Still, I say rent before you buy.
I saw this one too. Good plotline overall, and Randy Spears is exceptional as the villain- very cool fencing! However, I really hated the voice-overs by Veronica Hart- makes the film feel like some sappy fairy tale while the rest of it is ultra-serious. The best thing about this movie is the costumes. Brilliant costumes, hair and makeup.
Whats interesting is that the film has 3 different audio streams (which are a bit confusing from the titles at first):
1) dolby digital 2) music only 3) dialogue only
These pertain to the sex scenes only. The first one is the original sound, it's a half balance of music and sex audio. " music only" makes the music track really loud in comparison to the sex audio (it isn't "music only" as the title implies) and "dialogue only" makes the sex audio really loud in comparison to the music track. This multiple audio streams thing is a very nice feature!
When I first watched the film, the music was very grating. A second go at the film with the "dialogue only" option improved the sex by a mile. So make sure and watch the film under that setting.
*Stormy's mom is played by Veronica Hart. She does a good job with all the dialogue she has, and I still have the hots for her. What is she up to now? I miss her.
What she's doing now is producing and directing, plus some non-sex parts. She produces under her real name, Jane Hamilton (not the same as the novelist), while still directing as Veronica Hart. She works for VCA.
I too still remember her fondly despite how long it's been since seeing her in a sex role.
Yeah, I never got the whole story on what happened to the company, but VCA is all but finished with new features. I'd like to know what Antonio Passolini is up to as well.
Like to know that too. VCA had a bunch of talented contract directors who all seem to have disappeared completely from the porn earth after VCA was sold.
Any inside news appreciated. Perhaps Kylie can tell us more?
I'm afraid I was more critical of it than most of you seem to be. I don't know. Maybe I just don't like epic, historical dramas in porn. I mean, just look at my long winded bitch-fest about Gladiator II--and everyone else seemed to love that.
Anyway, my favorite scene was Keri Sable's scene with Randy Spears. God she is beautiful. Aside from that, the sex was certainly in character, but it was painfully boring to me. I appreciate them stickin' to the story, but I guess I just don't see how stories like this really fit into the porn context. I like stories that are about sex. Not stories that are about class struggles and cruel landowners that just happen to have a few sex scenes thrown into the mix. That's how this one felt to me.
And I think the term "stilted dialogue" would be an understatement.
Don't get me wrong. It's quite beautiful from a costume, lighting, and production standpoint, but for me (and admittedly, I have my oddities about what I like) the sex was just wholly uninteresting.
At any rate, those were my reactions. Take them or leave them. :)
That's from Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts, the best game from the series that started with Ghosts 'N Goblins. What a great game -- hard as hell, but I started playing it again this weekend and couldn't stop. There's always lambskin.
According to iafd, she directed three movies for VCA in 2004: Chasing Destiny,Misty Beethoven: The Musical, and To Protect and Service.Edited by - stripey7 on 10/31/2005 9:55:24 PM
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I can tell ya first hand, that it was a very looooong & exhausting shoot to be on! LOL The costumes, hair & make-up were the highlight for me! Thanks to "Lee" (Jenna Jamesons make-up artist), he really went to town & enjoyed every minute of doing our hair! We were in the chair for hours, but it was so worth it! I personally feel that this was one of my most tiring scenes and I am concerned that it looks so on film. I arrived at 12noon and we didn't start having sex until MIDNIGHT! And it was OUTSIDE, IN THE WOODS, FREEZING! So by that point, needless to say, we were all ready to fall down :)~ I'm running by Wicked ASAP to grab my copy! XO, Michelle Lay
Don't forget to grab Second Thoughts while you're at it, because you're terrific in that one, and not just in your sex scene. Perfect embodiment of that prim-on-the-outside, hot-on-the-inside fantasy. That's more like my kind of wardrobe anyway.
For what it's worth, I thought your scene was one of the better scenes in the movie. Probably my second favorite. You looked gorgeous, and I didn't get that sense of tiredness you were concerned about at all. Also, as you say--it was all about the hair. The hair work alone is almost worth picking up the movie for. Really gorgeous.
Well Thanks MLyons...considering that I just read a review where you started out by saying that "I've never been a big fan of Michelle Lay,"! (I think it was from this movie too??? Maybe it has been edited?) LOL Don't worry though, I'm not mad atcha! Just wanted to let you know that I do read the boards and I CAN take constructive critisism for "whatever" reason! Just watch your ass, cause I might bite ya! HEE HEE XO, Michelle Lay
This was by far the most grueling set I've ever worked on. I had more than one 20 hour day while filming and it is the only movie that I've had more than three sex scenes in. Having said that, Eternity is probably the movie I am most proud of. For those who thought my scenes weren't as hot as some of my others, I would agree in some respects. The reason for this was that I (and the other performers) were staying in character. It was a period piece which sort of inhibits me from yelling "Fuck my pussy" and etc. It is defintely a great movie and Brad Armstrong out did himself. I have no qualms about encouraging (ok, demanding) everyone to buy it. :)
