Yes ballet in particular is very hard on your body. more specifically your joints and cartilage. it tends to become very degenerative in later years from the sometimes over usage of certain parts of the body in ways the sometimes were not intended to move. it takes serious years of this sort of intense use of the body for this to occur. it is much like corsetry or contortion, in my opinion. these things take years for the body to achieve. the training is not a fast process. so the body slowly gets acclimated to what it is doing. therefor not having instant (gut problems as you put it) but more of long term problems and aches such as but not limited to: arthritis, tendonitis, chin splints, or stress factors. I wear gloves a lot at work too so that might have had something to do with it. I heard that hands don't hold ink that well and that you have to get them retouched from time to time. Not sure if the guy knew what he was talking about or not. What tattoos do you have on your hands, especially close to your cuticles? Hand tattoos are awesome. I want like a million more. [Link]

Im bad about that too namely after the scabs are gone. I have uv reactive lettering. A lot of people have Hold Fast on their knuckles. (harsh waters in a ship hold fast the wheel....) So one day while at the shop I got the notion to tattoo E Brake. I thought it was really hilarious maybe not forever hilarious, so I went with the black light ink. I also have lil' x's near my cuticles on each finger. Yeah I really love finger tattoos. Not so much hand tattoos. I dunno why I like the seperation of ink between fingers and wrist.
