We're using a couple of Netgear RangeMax WPN824v3 in a base station & repeater config here at the house. I'm impressed. The base station sits in another building about 125 feet away where our SDI service is provisioned. The repeater unit connects to it at 63Mbit. (Max speed is 108Mbit.) That's a helluva lot faster than our 3MBit internet service. If your internet device already has a switch or hub built into it then you don't need a router, just a wireless access point. Flash  Golden Age Classic 11018 Posts 5/01 | Posted - Jun 24 2008 : 4:18PM Before you put in your wireless router check for nasties along the signal route that might make a mess like waterheaters or, believe it or not, aluminum cans. My main machine connects via hardwire (Cat5 cableing) to my wireless router and the router is elevated about 11 feet which seems to have cut out all the nasties. My set-up is a good 5 years old though so modern technology could be much better. [Link] |
