Would be really helpful when getting an idea of how good a movie is without having to browse reviews on their external sites or to get an idea about a film that hasn't been reviewed yet. Also you could get ratings for actors and directors on their best titles. I think it would be great if they could implement it on their database. Topic Moved by - Flash on Jul 20 2010 [Link] |

| Jaktarn Senior Member 4798 Posts 5/05 | Flash: I am not sure that would happen, I think porn fans are tighter together when it comes to referals for instance and thats why they would probably rate it more accurate than all the teens swamping imdb with high ratings for their prettyboy flicks. |

He will (probably) have to do the work if he decides to go ahead with this, so he's the man to ask, really. p.s. Off-topic (I guess), but has IMDB started to list English titles as the main title of foreign movies instead of the original (language) titles? See The Counterfeiters, for instance. I also think its too easy to game the system (and I'm too dumb to make a game-proof system) which is Flash's point, and one I agree with. And you can't be serious when you suggest that porn fans are tighter and won't fuck each other over by voting something up or down -- look at the endless shenanigans with Rog's Fan Picks voting and how the Twitter feeds go bananas when anyone is up for any award. Impossible to be truly objective. Prose reviews force the reviewer to make a point, and the consumer to read it in order to form a conclusion. I like that formula. I did ponder a way to let visitors leave reviews themselves instead of having to post them here or run their own review sites, but we have enough trouble keeping up with data entry than to overtax the editorial staff to play moderator. (Tho I suppose we could try to find mods for the review queue...) |
