I'm sure by this time I would have found this, but I'll ask anyway. I've been to forums where there is an option to ignore certain user's posts (like the ignore function in chat). Does anything like this exist on ADT?

There's one person in particular. My life would be immeasurably, vastly improved if I never, ever had to read another word of his. Is this possible? thanks.

I don't want to leave the forum, so please don't suggest that.

Damn RLD, I thought we could work this out. Is there no hope?
edited to remove the quote, it hurt so much the first time I didn't want it repeated.

Congratulations to reaching double senior status.

Do you still want the ignore button?
You wouldn't have been able to read the congrats.

It would be a nice feature...for example...

This message is blank because AC Cream is on your ignore list.

I've thought about an ignore function. I'd certainly like one. Unfortunately I can only code it to ignore posts made by the ignorant. (Would that be the appropriate term, along the lines of complainant?) If the ignored's posts were quoted you would still end up seeing the quoted parts. I'm sure I could rework the whole forum to compe up with a better quoting mechanism but I don't think it's worth the effort.

I figured we already had an ignore funtion - the box on the left with the poster's name in it.

I'd like to ignore UltraD's "Serenity" thread

I'll quote Drews entire post because, well, he's Drew.

Also because it's so damned logical. An "ignore" feature won't get you away from someones posts- they will be quoted ad naseum. The "active topics" feature will set you free, and it's the best you can hope for.

Edited to say: Cobalt quit following my posts because otherwise TonyC will never believe we aren't the same person and that disturbs me greatly.

The other forum I was involved in that had an ignore function worked like that, and everybody seemed happy with it since it seemed like you were at least able to filter out 80% of what you didn't want to see.

Well it works like that for Usenet and killfiles. As long as people quote smartly and don't feed the unwitting trolls, that kind of ignore is still useful.

An enthusiastic +1 ignore function!

I try to ignore threads where a couple of guys on the first page of ADT's members list are posting. I probably miss a lot of interesting stuff but I'm allergic to those two. They're probably allergic to me as well so this would work both ways.

If you can read this, the ignore function is not yet implemented.

Ever given it any further thought?

Unrelated matter: This old thread renders funny, at least on my browser. Might be a little bug in one of your scripts. I didn't want to bump it directly, and risk changing it.
