Drewster, you know how some forums have an option for 'ignore posts by this user', I was wondering if you can do something similar.

I can see that it could get really confusing if we had the ability to block people and couldn't see their posts at all. So I was thinking, how about a facility where we could mark people so that their posts appear in say, font size 6?

Whaddya reckon?

It's completely possible. The hard part is when someone quotes a user's post that's on your ignore list. The forum software doesn't keep track of which user's text was quoted so you would end up seeing their offensive missives anyway.

That would be another implementation issue. If an ignored user starts a topic then the entire thread would be ignored too.

As Steph said, "You don't need Drew to ignore someone. See name, skip post. It's very easy."

If they are truly offensive, and their posts exceed the latitude afforded free speech, Steph, Drew or the appropriate mod will send them packing.

I couldn't agree more. Reading boards drives me mad, I end up even more frustrated, I'd like to reply to every topic, if I reply I usually regret it, but I keep getting back to them. Maybe it's really the train wreck theory. And ADT is still one of the nicest place ever, you don't have bullies or post count crap or ego wars (most of the time).
