That depends on your locality. In many European countries the legal age to appear in porn was still 16 when her movies were made. I still have a VHS player around, just in case. Not to record anything anymore, those procedures are gone. But to go down some memory lane, be it sport, horses, music, politics or even old porn-whoeurs. I was thirteen in 1986 and last summer - thirty years later - me and a die-hard Maradona-fan recaptured the World Cup soccer finale live from 1986, overheated Azteca Stadium in Mexico in the heat of summer, at three o'clock, live-recorded back then, fine quality and quite watchable on my Sony player from 2004, which I paid around 500 bucks for, just to have a capable fast forwarding machine available, with so many great tapes around. I could throw them away or buy a last chance new generation VHS machine. I chose the last. Argentina up against what then was West-Germany. Then I don't feel old, just kinda cool.
Video 2000 was developed by Grundig and Philips.....They started Homevideo with VCR in the early 70´s even before Sony´s Betamax. Both were ruled out by JVC´s VHS till the mid 80´s.
I'm interested to know how the three options were available? Was it mail order? Would you actually go to a porn store and there would be all three formats? When I looked up 'Video 2000' I found "It was only available in Europe, Brazil and Argentina" ( http://www.obsoletemedia.org/video-2000/ )
Can't speak for the US but in Canada VHS and to some extent Betamax was available in many video stores. For obvious reasons the latter one was a lot more rare but you could find some titles that were well worth renting in the Beta format. Of course that required buying a Betamax player as well as a VHC player.
Same in Europe. It was not that every film was available in 3 options but some of them, presumably the bestsellers. There were rumors Sony tried to prevent the supply of Betamax for porn. Maybe another killer for Betamax....

Back in the day, I remember going into Drake's on Melrose in Hollywood to look for porn videos. The first time I went I was surprised how many of the videos were in Beta format, because VHS was much more popular here in the states. I asked the clerk why so many videos were in Betamax format. He told me they got plenty of Japanese tourists and Beta was the preferred format in Japan.

I thought the whole basis of the 'porn was one of the major factors VHS became the dominant format over Betamax' legend, was because porn was predominantly/exclusively available on VHS over Betamax. Also interesting that so many Japanese tourists would happily pack porn videos into their take home luggage.
