Are the people who write the scripts for porno movies members of the screen writers guild? If they go on strike, does that mean that we won't get any more porn with plots?

Will we be stuck watching, gasp! compilations for the next couple of months???

This post is a joke, right? I don't think you have to worry about porn script writers going on strike. But then again, stranger things have happened.

perhaps we should take it upon ourselves to write some scripts:

girl is sitting on bed. guy shows up to deliver something. "hi, do you want my body?" she asks. he grunts. they have sex. [insert moaning] another guy shows up [no reason necessary]. he joins.

two girls are having a picnic. [giggle] "i forgot the food" "oh well how about i eat you instead" they have sex.

Actually the opposite of this scenario is likely to happen. I read in the paper last week that many people who work in the mainstream movie field have been talking with the porn companies for work should a strike take place.

I'm talking about the "behind the scenes" people like cameramen, lighting people, etc...

I wouldn't be surprised if a writers strike actually improves the quality of porn productions instead of having a negative affect.

Bill - Drew posted a similar article here - I'm astounded at how much money a union gopher makes.

Since most porno plots are written on the back of cocktail napkins, the industry would be more affected by a cocktail server striker then from the Screenwriter's Guild

Yes some people actually get paid to write a "porn" script believe it or not.

As far as the strike goes it is not unusual at all for "mainstream" behind the camera personnel to be found working on porn sets. There is only so much work to go around and apparently there is no stigma attached to it as there is to the people who work in front of the camera.

I wish to back up Lee's post. My brother is in LA right now, trying to break into the scriptwriting business. According to them, two things are happening.

The Guilde put out a week extension, which means the studios are scrambling to get work in and wrapped up before the strike happens. So more potential for work for the next week or so.

Secondly, lots of the crew will go work in the porn industry to make ends meet if mainstream Hollywood shuts down. Expect to see a flood of cheap titles and possibly some new faces as the actors have to pay the bills, too.
