And I disagree 100% with the people who say that just because a chick is getting implants, she might as well go huge. If a girl is a size A, she might be very self-conscious. All of her life, she may have felt that having the equivalent of no boobs was very frustrating. So for a girl in that situation, it might do her good on an emotional and confidence level to go up to just a B so that she can feel like she fills out a bikini top a tiny bit. A girl might go from a B to a C, and it might be a good size decision for her if she's only sagging a tiny little bit. The little bit of extra fullness might be good. Thankfully, there's still some girls in this business who consider implants but know that they don't want to look like a Frankenstein in the process. [Link] |

I get really frustrated when I keep reading/hearing people say "why did she go to a butcher, she should have spent the extra bucks and gone to a good doctor". Most of what goes wrong with breast augmentations is in the healing process of the person, not in the skill of the surgeon or the cost of the operation. The healing process involves a capsule of scar tissue developing around the implant. If that capsule is too thick, uneven, or forms adhesions to surrounding tissue, it deforms the implant. There is very little anyone can do about how the capsule forms. Tissue massage, pressure bandages, fibrous tissue inhibiting medications, and more surgery to tweak the shaping process is all there is, and none of it is sure to work. About one third of women who have breast augmentation develop capsular contracture around one or both implants. Contracture is what causes the seeming hardening of the implant. The implant itself has not gotten hard. It's just that scar capsule has gotten so thick and squeezed so forcefully around the implant that the implant can't "squish" anymore. It has nothing to do with the original surgery, it's just how the woman's body reacts to having a foreign object implanted. Even though I have implants, and I consider it to have been a good choice for myself, I wish fewer women would have augmentations. I also wish society did not make such an issue of breast size and shape that so many women felt they needed to change whatever they had to begin with. Just for Priscilla, if she's still reading this... I looked at some pictures of you, you're a very pretty young woman. I think I can guess why you're considering implants. I don't think implants would improve your appearance. I think implants would spoil the shape of your chest, even though they would fill up the skin of your breasts. Full mounds perched wide-set on your body won't look good, no matter how well the surgery turns out. Your natural breasts form better cleavage than implants will. If you do decide to get implants, be sure to get low profile, large diameter implants to compensate for that. Don't go too large, you have plenty of breast tissue to cover a smaller implant for a more natural appearance, but not enough near the breastbone to keep from having the "half a melon on your chest" look.
