We distributed 4 titles recently from Sinclair Institute.
I am curious if anyone has viewed them, and if there are any opinions in regards to the content, and more importantly the production value. The content is eduacational, no porn stars, real life regular naked folks trying to improve their sex life.

Thanks

Hmm..except for the educational part, sounds the home-made videos most of us have hidden in that drawer, heh heh.
I'd be interested too to hear about these, or even have them reviewed. I hope that our gang here has not gotten so hardcore that something like this would no longer interest them. ;)
But then too, I think we've gotten to the point where something normal might seem tantalizingly kinky! :0

One more thing, JKRULL - where is the Sinclair Institute and how can I enroll?

I took a quick look at DVD Exotic. I don't see the buy 1 get 1 free deal listed anywhere on DVD Exotic's site. Which page is it at?

BTW, DVD Exotic asked to be removed from Adult DVD Talk at the beginning of December.

Drew, any particular reason Exotic wanted to leave? I'm curious because I have pretty much given up buying porn from any store that isn't an affiliate of ADT. If someone told me of a great bargain at a store that was unaffiliated, I probably would pass it up unless a close friend recommended it without reservation. How often does that happen these days? ;)

ps: wasn't the beginning of december around the time that everyone here was praising them as a great site? That sounds kind of a weird time to leave... HMMMMMMMMMMM

JKrull, I suppose it's fair to ask you the question: Have you viewed them and what do YOU think of their production values?

HoustonDOn- it is raining in the keys! I keep trying to get away, but alas I am back.

I am going to maintain a "no comment" on your question!

Its safe to say I put it out there for a reason...

:)

JKrull, touche!

If I were a wiseguy, and if I were jaded, I'd have answered that you put them out there to make money-regardless of quality. I see far too many companies throwing consumer concerns (like quality) to the wind and releasing any old POS-knowing the rental market alone will cover the costs. I can point the finger at several studio's that still do this and still don't care. Your's is not one of them. While many companies have the same lousy quality they've always had, you've taken steps to improve-often greatly improve-your dvd releases.

Maybe these would be the perfect dvd's for Dumbblonde to review-sort of like a sex toy, not quite a movie... ;)

JKrull - Exotic has a couple of good deals on Ultimate titles on their home page but nothing about the Sinclair special.

HoustonDon - I'm not really sure why they no longer wanted to be on ADT. I assume it was a combination of many factors. They have a nice store and great customer service but it must be hard to cultivate new customers from ADT when your prices are consistently the highest of any store in the price search. Participation in ADT is voluntary. It's a loss to see a quality store drop out.

We've got a long list of new stores that have asked to be in the price search and advertise. We hope to include a few of them early next year. As you know, we don't accept just any store. We have an extensive list of criteria that we use before accepting any new stores. Very few stores pass the test. If a store appears on ADT it's an implied 'seal of approval'. We've been burned once already and hope to avoid that situation again in the future.

While I haven't seen the DVD versions of these videos, I do have the VHS ones, so I can comment from the content side.

Above all, they are indeed educational videos. Although there are a couple of hot moments, it's definitely not a raincoater sex tape (unless you happen to have a fetish of seeing "real couples" have sex). They are narrated by credentialed and nationally known sexologists (I actually used to listen to one on a talk radio station; he hosted one of those call-in sex advice radio shows).

The format goes like this: the experts give a short introduction into a topic, such as "fellatio," saying how normal it is, how lots of people do it, etc. Sounds a lot like it's geared to sexually conservatives who need a doctor to tell them it's okay. For the most part, the narration is strictly clinical (just "penises and vaginas having intercourse" here). Then there are demonstrations, with clips of couples lovingly doing the show and tell. In some of the tapes, there are interview segments with the couples to explain their background and feelings.

Speaking about the couples, I'm somewhat skeptical about the claim that they used all real life, non-porn couples, since I can recognize 3-4 porn stars of that era in them. Jon Dough and Diedre Holland are in several scenes and Rick Savage and a blonde that looks a lot like Debbie Diamond (but I'm not positive) are in another tape in the series. Rick actually is wearing an airline pilot's uniform in the interview segment, and the two talk about the marital woes they were experiencing before they spiced up their sex life. Whatever...

But for the most part, the other couples seem real enough. You've got guys with balding heads, beer bellies, and average or small penises. And women who are plump, have small or sagging breasts, or who have unshaved pussies. I think it probably much less threatening than "perfect" porn stars that are in most videos.

Production value: Well, they were filmed in the early 90's, so the quality is not up to today's standards. The sets are, well, sets, but they are dressed decently and look reasonably close to the real thing (i.e. a bedroom or a bathroom). The hairstyles and clothing look very much late 80s/early 90s. The music track is very quiet and soothing, mostly a flute melody (no "action" music). The camera focus is soft and the editing speed is slow.

In general, it's probably a good series to pick up if your significant other is not that adventurous. You could probably also pick up some pointers here and there, but I didn't get that much insight from them myself when I first watched them six or so years ago. If not for the explicit sex, it might not make a bad sex ed tape for someone who has no clue about it.

Like I said, I have no idea what the DVDs are like, but anyone's interested in them after reading the above review, then they seem to be priced right at less than $15 each. At least if the quality is poor or if you don't like the content, you're not out much $$$.

Hope that helps,

Saki
