There are no legitimate studies that I know of as to the viewing demographics, but I think that the breakdown would probably surprise people. Most porn is probably bought by white males, and that probably includes IR. The genre itself is not any more analcentric than its other gonzo siblings. In fact, it's probably less. Some of the top black male stars do comparitively little anal, and some say they don't even like doing it. Of all the gangbang lines, you're less likely to see anal in the bm/wf ones. There's far less physical abuse being meted out in IR porn as compared to white on white. I'm not going to attempt to psychanalyze the motivation behind the enjoyment of the genre. At this point in time, I think the reasons are as diverse as the audience.
I don't care at all whether a porn is IR or not ,I buy/rent because of performers male or female , I like Justin Slayer's as a performer and as a director so I pick up often something from him, same thing for Jules Jordan.

In my opinion, IR porn sell well for two reasons: 1. the performers or director's popularity. For example, Naomi is currently the hottest thing around, and she's in a number of IR scenes. 2. IR adds to the male-dominated porn viewer's fantasy of "penis power." Meaning nothing says "the Dick is King" better than seeing a big, black one tearing up a small, white pussy.
