Interview with Amber Chase!!
Friday, June 19, 2009 by M. Dickinson
1) How long have you been in the industry? How did you get started? Have you had fun in the industry?
I began exploring the adult industry just under two years ago. Though the Internet had already been a place where I would share naughty pictures taken with my boyfriend in adult-networking communities like AFF, I started in the industry stuff with a kind of random foot modeling gig that I thought would be fun, and with the contacts from that photo shoot I discovered a casting call for some more adult amateur style photo shoots. I thought it'd be hot a kind of naughty thing to try. I love showing off and seeing other people's reaction. The pictures weren't very good from that shoot but I was told that was the concept.... if the pictures look kind of bad then it gives it the air of authenticity that comes with homemade pictures. OK I guess. Though it was my first adult shoot, that should be amateur enough *shrug* It wasn't long before I ended up meeting someone who produces content and does marketing for
Homegrown Video. I was really excited, we met (me, my boyfriend & the camera man) and discussed the type of stuff they do, what to expect if I wanted them to film us and stuff like that. The other company with so-so photos was small and with all the porn that's made, it seems as if it would easily get lost in the shuffle. But Homegrown is kind of popular -by the people for the people stuff that I know gets broadcast on satellite. Hmmmmmm. It's something to seriously consider before accepting based on momentary excitement. We were given time to think it over. Of course, I'm a naughty girl and after we shot our scene about a week after the initial meeting, I asked if he'd let me film something with him as well.
Nobody pressured me, I pursued the experience every step of the way with excitement as well as contemplation. I didn't really think things would develop beyond that brief experience, like a one-time kooky thing, living life to the fullest... though as things progressed and I ended up being contacted for some art nude modeling and have fortunate enough to work with some really talented people.
From being part of that community I was contacted by Bellezza Video for a girl-girl project and things were even more practical, rational, professional, and caring as far as the process leading up to actually casting me for the project. Bellezza video is awesome, they even made sure that me and Anna Stevens we given the opportunity to meet and get to know one another before the shoot date. Anna and I were just talking about how strange it would have been to never have met through Bellezza Video....... *sigh* I would have missed out on a lot of fun for sure.
2) Are you concerned with the rights of the adult industry to make and produce movies/web clips?
Yes I am. Of course I understand that some regulations are based on the notion of protecting the individuals involved, but other regulations are based on the intention of protecting the public from the ability to use their own judgment in what they feel is appropriate entertainment. Yes the adult industry is different than other industries, and will have to be sensitive of that, however, there are some things that restricted that are needlessly interfering with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
3) A lot of the problem people have with the adult industry is the misconception that "pornographers" are always trying to lure under age people in and make "kiddie porn".
Could you talk about what it is actually like on a set, as far as having ID, signing model releases, having an AIM test, etc? Have you seen or heard of anyone in the legitimate adult industry knowingly using minors in films or the web?
I have never heard of, seen, or experienced the abuse, pressure, or involvement of minors in the adult industry. Sure there are probably people on Craigslist-like web sites that are looking to prey on the innocent, but they are not going to be affected by the regulations regardless of how conservative or liberal the rules are. So really, a moderate, well thought out policy is more effective than one that is restrictive to the point of interfering with the ordinary operation of business. Besides there are plenty of girls in their late 20s that look like they are "barely-legal" so why would any company bother with hunting down little baby-girls to take advantage of? There are plenty of legal-aged women that want to be in porn with tight bodies and pretty faces, and let’s not forget that the just turned 18 look is NOT the only thing that men and women fantasize about. That said, every time I go to a shoot I bring two forms of ID, my driver's license as well either my birth certificate or my social security card as well as a copy of my latest AIM test confirming that through PRC DNA testing that I do not have HIV or STDs. (recall that everyone is advised not to carry their ss card on their person.)
The fear of messing up the paperwork for adult themed content has gotten to the point that even art photographers who are making family friendly art work feel that they must follow the adult industry regulations because a nipple might be showing in the serene black and white nude in nature print. It's crazy that this country is more concerned with the consequences of seeing sexuality than violence. *sigh*
4) Do you ever get offended by shows like South Park or Family Guy? What do you think about shows/writing that offends people?
So there are things that I'm not too hip on about South Park, I don't dig much doodie-potty humor, or making fun of the abuse of children. It just doesn't feel right. However, there have been times when I've sat mesmerized, time passing, punctuated with giggles in front of South Park when that were riffing on other things. Family Guy has gone through phases over the years where it's just not funny to me, but I dig them sometimes too. Lately I'm liking them. You can't please all people all the time. Sure there are probably shows that I would think WTF is wrong with these people, but I change the channel. I get more offended by the "news" anchors on MSNBC and FOX media than I do cartoons aimed at adult themed humor.
5) What do you think about some of the stuff that pushes the limit in the adult industry, stuff like Max Hardcore, Kink.com, JM Productions?
Hmmmmm, well I considered contacting kink.com at one point.... as a model. I would definitely not do all the themes they shoot, but there's some that I might try. But even if I was totally not into it, I don't see how it's relevant. I mean there is a wide range of fetishes to explore in consenting, safe, atmospheres where one can experience psychologically and physically things in a role playing manner that would be absolutely traumatic if they happened in the context of "daily life" without mutual agreement and planning. I haven't really seen the Max Hardcore stuff, and maybe not JM stuff either, but I think that IF the participants are adults who are
not under the influence of substances that would impair their judgment, who have complete understanding of the activities of the theme, who have gone over safety issues, are interested in exploring aspects of human thought that are perhaps dark, threatening or otherwise unusual, then who am I to censor that exploration.
In this country we eagerly eat up all the gore and violence with explosions, crime scenes, scary masked men, many of these movies involve the "exploitation" of the female character- young adults exploring their sexuality are always the first to get killed in the horror flicks, the bare breasted girl screaming in terror as she runs away is like the formulaic element of these movies. And yet we can understand that that type of production is fantasy entertainment, but once a hard penis enters the picture somehow the perception gets twisted to assume that this other form of entertainment is real.
6) Have you ever been asked to do a scene or something on film that you thought was crazy and wondered if it was offensive/legal? What was it? Did you do the scene or the act anyway?
I have never been asked to do anything that I wasn't comfortable with by a legitimate company. However, something I participated in MIGHT be considered illegal due to the vagueness in the interpretation of the obscenity laws. I had no idea! I mean I was with my friend Anna whom I adore and love exploring my sexuality with, and after a day of naughty play T was so worked up that I asked her if she would try to fist me. I had never experienced it before, but I was so in the moment that I pushed my hips against her, trying to relax and experience the intensity. Frankly it was beautiful-bliss in the most far out way I have ever imagined!!!!! I didn't know there was anything wrong with that. In fact, I defend my right to explore my body!!!
I defend my right to show others what is possible to experience if we are willing to be unafraid and only take in the sensations you're capable of. FTV said that was the most intense fisting video they have ever seen.... WOW my first time ever trying that and I went at it with such passion that even he was surprised..... That is something that should be shared. Explore the possibilities.
7) Why do you think America has such a fascination with sex and with regulating sex?
I think it has to do with the history of this country and the religious notions that there held by people several hundred years ago.
My good friend Misty Haze was traveling and got pulled over...... the whole time she was worried that her car would be searched because in the trunk, in her hat box, was a small collection of dildos, marital aids, vibrators, and maybe even anal toys. WTF? I buy them down the street, I buy them over the internet, I enjoy sex toys, I enjoy them by myself, I enjoy them with others, I study archaeology and know that phallic objects have been used both in the bedroom and in the celebration of fertility (or abundance and good fortune...) for thousands of years. But my friend was about to get ticketed for having them in a box in her trunk???
8) Many people in the industry have told me that most the people in the industry don't care about protecting free speech, or really about anyone other than themselves and their money. Do you think this is true? Do you think a lot of the people that are new to the industry care or have any concern about free speech and protecting the right to make movies?
I think that some people in any industry will be self-centered, and/or cynical. I can't speak for others, their motivations or their knowledge of the issue.
9) What is the craziest thing you have done/or scene you've been in on camera?
Hmmm. I've done some intensely long tickle videos that was pretty wild, but not in an extreme sex kind of way. I've done a lot of wild things in my personal life.... (Example: blow bang, gang bangs, public stuff), I guess on film it would be the FTV stuff because we got playful in public and I got to experience fisting for the first time ever.
10) Have you been involved with trying to change people's opinions about the industry?
Not technically until I responded to your interview, but I think that showing the joy of being filthy naughty is like doing my part to change people's opinions about the industry.... I go to the university full time, lead a totally responsible life, AND enjoy getting fucked hard.
So, live life, have fun!
