Opium Deactivated User 300 Posts 3/12	Posted - May 25 2012 : 4:39AM with my new PC which i purchased last week i notice that my IP address is changing every few days. i am no longer using a router with this PC so i'm wondering if that's why on my last PC i always had the same IP address for years. the only other difference besides the new PC itself/not using a router anymore is that i also got a new modem from my cable company (the previous one was having issues). any idea why it's now changing every few days and is this normal? i guess a benefit would be if i ever get banned from a website i just have to wait a few days to access it again : ) Edited by - Opium on May 25 2012 [Link]

Your internal network IP or the one that is seen from outside your network? Your ISP controls your external IP and it is either static which does not chnage or dynamic which can change at intervals. liloleme Senior Member My favorite cartoon as a kid 1666 Posts 10/06	Posted - May 25 2012 : 5:35PM That one you see at www.myipaddress.com is the one assigned by your ISP and you have no control over it save asking them for a static IP which may involve additional costs if they were to do it. The internal IP is assigned by your modem or router which allows communications between devices resideing on the same network, whether wired or wireless. These are assigned from within a range of addresses based upon theorder in which they are connected in most cases. Administered networks may have static IP's assigned. [Link]
