Since I purchased a new modem a few weeks ago my IP address is now Ipv6. Prior to a few weeks ago I never had an Ipv6 address.
The thing is that when I go to speedtest.net my IP is showing up differently (in Ipv4 format). However when I type "what's my ip" into Google I get back an IP showing in Ipv6 format.
Is this normal and why is this happening? Also which IP is my true IP address, the one showing up on Google or the one showing up on Speedtest?

I fucking hate IPv6 (I understand it's needed) cause you used to be able to remember a box's IP address with IPv4 (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx), but IPv6 is too ridiculous to remember.

^ sorry not to confident in my understanding of IPv6 to know what is what.
I'm sure someone else knows definitively more.

We are currently in an in-between period during which ipv4 and ipv6 co-exist; cannot be totally ipv6 until all networking components in use by everyone everywhere on every device is ipv6. It will take a long time to get to that point. In the meantime, we have a mixed bag. What you are seeing is the result of having a mixed bag.
Both.
