I generally love Firefox but with some pages, when I click the back button, it does go back but when it does, it goes to the very top of the page instead of going back to the part of the page I was on. On other pages, it keeps track of where I was. This has been an issue through all the versions of Firefox I've used. I can't believe it wouldn't be fixed if there was something they could do about it.
Is the problem with FF or is it the page itself?

some pages did that in Opera when i used that prog and Safari has that issue sometimes. I think it's with the page itself. it's a bitch but it's just a minor annoyance at times. Drew will prob be able to shed more light on it since he's all smart about that stuff and all.

When you see this problem does the URL in the address bar have the # character in it near the end?

I hate that to. I usually have my setting adjusted so that additional pages open as new tabs in the same browser session (a particularly nice setup for porn surfing IMO!). Then when I'm done, I close that tab, and the original page is in the same place.
I realize this is a stylistic approach that might not appeal to everyone.

I don't know. It doesn't happen all the time so it isn't repeatable at just any time. I'll check next time it happens.

Actually, I didn't think of that. I'll have to try it and see how I like it. Only reason why it might not be such a good thing (for porn surfing, at least) is when you're surfing porn TGPs, you can get a whole bunch of tabs open before you know it.

I'm guessing that's what it is. An easy way to test it is to click the Top of Thread icon at the bottom right of this post. It will take you to #pagetop. Your browser treats this as a new URL even though the link is on the same page. Then if you click the back button it returns you to the previous URL which just happens to be the same page.

It's the difference between an anchor and an href.
