The sort of strap-on movies I dislike are precisely the ones focused on domination, humiliation, and sissyfication. The sort of strap-on movies I prefer are ones like the Strap Attack series that are far more about playing games with sexual roles than just reversing them (which could, as you suggest, equate to reinforcing those roles) and which are less about domination as such and more about the man and woman finding a mutual pleasure in the act.
