Do you guys think that the ease of downloading porn wheather it's pics, Vids or VOD is causing problems for DVD and Video sales? Or is it making it more popular? Do memberships to official sites keep it all on the level? I was viewing porn before there was an internet, looking at mags and some of my dad's vids, which were pretty tame compared to today's standards. But I think the Net has helped porn along and be more accepted. I really hope the ol' corner Adult Store isn't going anywhere, when I've got spare cash I love forking out for a new DVD. Opinions? Not that I'm bothered too much as my sites are doing okay but I have now entered the arena of distribution here in the UK under the label: Wrist Action Entertainment www.stmdistribution.com However my US and European distribution is being handled by www.blackwidowmedia.net Now back to the case at hand. Yes, lets have some dialogue on this. What do you think? |
| Gunzo Senior Member 1377 Posts 2/05 | For every 100 free loaders I think there are 1 or so who buy as much as those 100 would've bought together... So, my guess is that it at least doesn't hurt the business, but it's great to blame piracy when your company is going down... |

If a girl wants to boost her popularity via the internet she should become an ADT regular or offer an interesting free website like Asia Carrera for example. |
| Captain Cock Member NL 172 Posts 2/05 | To speak for my self and most of my friends, I would be way to shy to visit sexshops and look around for porn I like. The net gave me the ability to 'window-shop' without feeling embarassed. I would have felt rather uncomfortable renting or buying a title like 'Cumfart Cocktails' or 'Cumfilled Asshole Overload' from a real-life person, but from the relative ease and anonimity from the net, I did. Also, the fact that porn is so much more easy accessible, will perhaps attract people to it that would otherwise wouldn't have gone further then buying Playboy magazine. |
| Robbie Member 884 Posts 1/05 | I'm sure some of the large professional looking network sites have unlicensed content. It's very difficult to avoid unlicensed content on the net. I don't know what you can do. You could stick a PXP authorised/licensed content logo on these sites, but eventually that would end up being ripped off too. |
| scipio Senior Member 1901 Posts 2/00 | When I was a kid, me and my friends used to pirate Amiga Games. After a few years, I must have had 100 or more discs. Would I have bought 100 games? Not bloody likely at 14 or so years old. Flash forward a few more years, I met a friend of a friend who was hugely into playstation (1) games. This guy was well off, owned his own house, etc. Yet he pirated every playstation game he could. Dis he actually play them? A few, at most. But really, he was more into the collecting for collecting's own sake. P2P networks with regard to music? Well, Australian record sales are up by a large number (it was on the radio 2 days ago, but I forgot the exact number) since Napster was introduced.. Really, chances are that people who download any stuff, whether music, movies, porn, warez, probably weren't going to buy the original anyway. The ones who would have bought them are probably balanced out by the ones who use them as "try before buy". I personally think actual pirated physical product, as Brandon saw in Serbia, and as I can see in just about any porn store here in Melbourne, are much more of an actual loss of income for the producer. scipio |

| Cyberchicken Member 900 Posts 4/02 | If everyone bootlegs their favorite porn, then their favorite porn stops getting made - period. But the problem is actually more complicated than that. Just one example is free samples. Hell, there are so many legal free samples floating around, that if you're just looking for a decent rub out, then you'll never have to pay another dime. Now companies such as EA provide free samples in the hopes that the previews will stimulate sales, but if you add up all the legal free samples being dumped on the web every single week, then you're talking about a shit load of porn. Then there's the free amateur stuff. While many amateur sites are pay only, they too offer free previews, and those previews get added to all the others. Then comes the free amateur porn, that finds it's way into every corner of the net, and when you add all this up you're talking about a shit load of porn. Then comes another factor, which is porn has simply gotten so much better. In the early 80s, I'd go through a lot of movies simply trying to find one good scene, then I rented Buttman Goes To Brazil, and my porn life changed forever. Stagliano was putting more hot fucking in one of his movies, than you would see in half a dozen other movies combined. But Stagliano was just the beginning. Other companies started following his lead, and soon everyone was releasing 2:20 movies. All of a sudden, the old 5 scenes (one a lesbian) format was dead. The new standard was Gonzo, and Gonzo was wall to wall fucking, and all of a sudden I started watching fewer movies, because I was no longer having to sort through so much crap to get to the good stuff. Then came the specialist, who represented the next wave after Stagliano. Companies, like Anabolic, started offering titles that gave the viewer exactly what they wanted in large doses. I had always looked for good cum swallowing scenes, but now Anabolic was delivering more swallowing in one movie, than I would normally see in ten titles. For a few years, in the mid 90s, the only porn movies I watched were Anabolic titles. Why waste my time with anything else. Now look at Feeding Frenzy and A Good Source Of Iron. Those two titles pretty much give me all the porn I need. I buy other titles, but only casually. Am I the only one here who has a back log of movies that they haven't even watched yet. For the first time in porn, there's more good titles being released each month than there is the time to watch them. So I now watch fewer titles, than ever before. Now when I see a director offering a new series, that ten years ago I would have jumped all over, I just yawn. I already have all the quality porn I can handle. So the industry is actually becoming a victim to it's own rising standards of quality, as weird as that sounds.

This formula is tried and true! The first results from that excursion are available this week in TEN LITTLE PIGGIES #6. "Maria" is the 11th piggie! It's her first and only xxx scene. Robbie: Thanks for proving our webmaster right! I am glad you enjoy A GOOD SOURCE OF IRON and hope to continue it for a long time. |

| Reggae Fan Member 10 Posts 9/05 | Truth be told, I haven't purchased movies of the scenes I have downloaded. But by downloading, I have come across lots of new girls that I would have never known about, and I have subsequently gone on to actively seek out other DVDs, which I certainly would not have done without being turned on by the internet clips in the first place. I remember seeing a while back a clip on the internet from the Slap Happy series. I had never seen anything like it before, and I was amazed, shocked, and turned on! I never bought the DVD, but I have subsequently bought a couple AGSOI DVDs among others if I liked the female(s), and knew she was gonna get the Brandon treatment. I agree that pirating is wrong, but I also agree with Brandon that there is no way to stay one step ahead. The Internet has brought a lot of change to the marketplace, but I also believe that the companies who harness this power and embrace it to further their marketing efforts will be the ones that will be around for a while. |
