I believe this is largely due to yankee culture. By this I mean that (less so these days but still true to a large degree) America is the driving force for many of the youth in the "civilized" (first) world. ie if Paris Hilton or Britney Spears did it, then it's the thing to do. Now, working backward-where does Paris get her ideas? Porn. Flashing the pussy or wearing more and more fishnets, shorter skirts (soon I think microskirts will be common apparel), etc. So the youth of America, to a lesser degree Europe, and certainly Japan, China and others.... follow what the movie stars do, and thus indirectly what the porn stars do. This is further evidenced by the shift in girl's toys. Take the American "BRATZ" dolls for example. They look like little hookers or strippers. They wear stiletto heels, fishnet or fencenet leggings or thigh-highs, short skirts, skimpy tops and piles of make up (very much like Jules Jordan would do lol). Now these are like 8 year old girls who get these dolls... We've come a long way from Barbie and I both blame and give credit to our pornographic culture. This also is a reason to blame the yanks, as they crank out by far most of the world's pornography, despite Japanese efforts to catch up. Miniskirts were the big thing in the 60s, and I have no idea where fishnets came from but I'm sure they weren't invented by porn. Meanwhile, most lingerie in porn is influenced by Victorian undergarments (Victoria's Secret anyone?), and I bet the military can be credited for some sexy fashions too. So yes, sure porn has an influence on culture (how could it not?), but porn inherited influences from many other places too, and it's not as simple as "pornification" of "mainstream."  [Link] |
