With all due respect to Mr. Deen, I'm starting to feel more intimately acquainted with his body than with most porn starlets. It seems that the girls are very attracted to him and that makes for a good scene, but because he is in almost every scene I watch, it's becoming distracting. Has anyone else noticed this?

Well, I'm not going to start that "There should be a million guys lined up to do this job" stuff. But surely there are at least ten or twenty men in the world who 1) Want the job, 2) Are hot to the girls, 3) Disease-free, 4) Can take instructions, and 5) can keep wood (Viagra levels the playing field a little with #5). What other qualifications are there? I think the real reason is that you have a few producers / directors / talent cliques who dominate the field and suck up the talent pool. In other words, it's really politics/money, not a lack of potential talent. There are almost 200 million men in the U.S. If you're saying a good male porn performer is a one-in-a-million find, then there should be 400 of them.
Yeah, I really think you may have to start watching other stuff by different companies or directors. Certain directors really do like using certain guys a lot. Just makes their job easier I guess. It's the gift and the curse of porn. This site (generally) tags the male talent in films pretty well, so just look to see if certain males names are there or not. A guy like Deen really does cover a lot of demographics. Young, good-looking, big dick, chicks dig him, plus he's good with dialogue, so he'll always work a lot.

Guys like James and Manuel mostly only stick to performing for certain production companies now. I only see Manuel in either his own movies for EA, or in stuff for Digital Playground. James seems to stick mostly with Brazzers now. So it all depends on what you're watching. I agree that there should be more of a variety of pron performers- both male and female. It is true that there's only a small handful of men in the porn talent pool who work regularly. The main reason for that is because the established guys who are in it have a lockdown on most of the work that is available, making it hard for new guys trying to find work to get any. Porn is like in any other industry: getting in is not really about what you know, but who you know. If you have the right connections, you can probably have an easier time getting into the industry and finding work. But even then, you'll still have to compete with the guys who are already popular and established, and these guys aren't going to pass up any available work. Being a male performer is probably 10 hex more competitive than being a female performer. The reason for this is because the industry is always looking for new female performers. With male performers, they are content with the few that they already have.
yea it really does seem like the male talent pool has dried up. Every company shoots the same five guys over and over again. At first you don't notice, but after a while it gets old and mildly annoying. James Deen does the same "Pornstar Punishment " thing every scene. As long as the girl is hot I guess, it can mostly be ignored.
great points, when was the last time a new release did not have at least one of the following performers in it: James Deen, Evan Stone, Anthony Rosano , Mr. Pete or Dane Cross. It been a long time for me. I understand the female performers have a limited approved list but lately it bad.
Good point. They need to put more effort into finding various male talent as they do female talent, one gets tired of the same small stable of men (the ones that view str8 porn specifically for the men) . . . . Then the ones that are hot aren't used as they should be! SAD!!

Yankran, I agree with you. Also, don't leave out Rocco Reed. He's in basically everything. I'm not saying these regulars aren't great performers. However, there is such a thing as over-exposure. It's getting ridiculous with the same male performers in movie after movie.

James Deen, Mick Blue, Mr Pete, Manuel and a couple of guys who names i don't know. For a while it looked like Keni Styles might be creeping in there. I also totally agree with you about Strong, which is why I generally avoid his scenes as well. As for Sins, I see how others can see him as being cold and detached and too professional, particularly since porn fans nowadays are so used to seeing guys like Deen, Ferrara, Everhard, et al. But like you said, it's a matter of taste. For me, that's exactly what I like about Sins. That's how you can tell how great a performer he is. There's nothing extraneous. No side antics. The reason you see a lot of Deen, is the man is a fucking machine. He always delivers. He has good wood and gives a great pop shot without having to jack himself for an eternity.
