Saw a debate on TV this week, with a former pornstar from our country, trying to defend herself from the alligations that porn is equal to prostitution. "Nonsense", I kept saying to myself (knowing that my porn-dvd collection future was at stake, if I don't kept on with this self-denial). However, some of the arguments made me think. The performers are selling their services to almost any perfomer/company, as long as the payment is right. Males are still the major percentage of the finished product-consumer. Bottom line: sex is sold for money...

Now: is this matter really so "simple"? I thought that the "industry" was so much more... Have I misunderstood? I hope so...

I defend the industry with arguments of the performers own free will, testing of diseases among the performers, benefit events and well payment...
And last: porn is a reflection of the society we live in, anyway.

However, what do YOU think?

Prostitution is not a dirty word, and it's illegality is ridiculous. I have heard many porn stars call themselves whores and are openly escorts.


In professional porn, you are for the most part, without parsing definitions for the purpose of using softer language, observing an act of prostitution and that those that produce porn are pandering, by definition....

Which is why all porn is prosecutable.


We must legalize prostitution to rectify that.

You obviously didn't read Lazarus' post in the link I provided, married_lucky.

Porn isn't prosecutable because of prostitution or pandering. Such charges would have to be laid against individuals, anyway.

Porn is prosecuted on obscenity and related charges.

I disagree with the word "prosecute". "Persecute" is obviously the right word.

And I don't care what people think porn is because I don't see anything wrong with prostitution.

Each company has obviously hired performers, but that does not mean every performer will work with any company or performer. Some, as they get to know who is who in the buisness, have people they will not work with.
