In the 90's and 2000's it seems like interracial was the big taboo that a lot of performers either wouldn't do, or would hold out on until later in their careers for a big paycheck. Thankfully the business mostly moved away from that and began making IR less of a big deal, but then Anal kind of took the spot of the thing that a lot of performers either wouldn't do, or held out on doing for as long as possible and when they did it was a big deal. Now I feel like for a lot of performers while Anal is still something of a taboo, swallowing is increasingly coming up right alongside it.

In the past swallowing was a fairly standard way to end a scene, maybe second to a normal facial, but in the past few years it feels like an increasing number of girls getting into the business don't want anything to do with swallowing and even when taking facials make it very clear they don't want a single drop anywhere near the inside of their mouth. Some performers eventually come around and do it, but many are clearly disgusted by it. On the other hand it's hard to tell whether it's the performers who aren't into it or if it's a choice by directors who prefer the more visual finish.

Strangely enough though, as swallowing has become less on vogue, I find that creampies are much more common than they used to which I really don't understand why that would be preferable to swallowing, but to each their own.
