The great problem with the brazilian "porn directors" is that, plain and simple, THEY DON´T FUCK. How can you be a good porn director if you´re not involved, at least emotionally, with the scene? How can you be a good porn director if all you see in front of you is a skank who prolly don´t deserve the money you´re paying her and a guy who HAS to be hard and come on cue so you can have something that at least resembles a sex scene? HOW CAN YOU SHOOT A SCENE IF YOUR DICK IS LIMP, DAMMIT???

Sorry to say that but, apart from Fabio Scorpion (who´s also an actor, although he´s TERRIBLE at lighting a scene and always manage to screw things up by shooting stuff in backlight), 110% of the brazilian directors don´t know shit from shinola about what the fuck they´re doing.

They pose as "true professionals" and focus only on the technical aspects of the shoot (or, to put it more clearly, on what they THINK is technical - what amounts to just turning on the lights and pointing the camera) and the limitations of the budget. They don´t want a hot scene. They just want a scene to fill space on a 90-minute tape.

Pathetic.

Is sound like a description of 90% of the porn directors in the world. They just want to fill 90 minutes of tape. Ever watched German porn? They really know to ruin everything in a scene. Otherwise the Germans just fuck other peoples things up by dubbing everything to German.

Even Rocco and Gabriel Zero are terrible when it comes to shooting in back light. They should take a lesson at Jules Jordan school of lighting and camera technique.

99,9%, to comply with Sturgeon´s Law more accurately...

And about lighting issues, yes, you´re right. Today, no one cares to actually LIT a scene. All they do is turn on the lights, and that´s all.

Jules Jordan's Evil Angel stuff is well lit (except for the first title or two), but the movies he shot for Rosebud had some of the worst lighting I've ever seen in porn. Filming scenes right in front of a huge sliding door with sunlight coming through and washing out the entire picture, couldn't see a damn thing the screen is white, thought I was going blind from the light. I think when he went over to Evil Angel they got him to tone down on the light, and the results were amazing.

Or use a filter on the lens, a trick that can also work wonders.

Only JJ can say for sure, but I´m 16,7% sure that he´s using filters.
