Yes, you listed a lot of subjective criteria about what makes a "true" star.So if I watch one of the black performers mentioned and I see "an enthusiasm," etc. and seek out more of her releases then she's a "true" star? What about if you watch a scene with that same performer, don't detect a unique enthusiasm, etc. and do not seek out her releases? Does she stop being a "true" star in that case? At least the number of people in a line at a convention can be measured, and we can look at someone like Bonnie Rotten and note that she has a unique look within mainstream porn. Those are good criteria, while the rest of what you wrote leaves us back where we started: I like her, so she's a star. I don't feel that we have a golden age at all. The current black girls I watch and enjoy are Nyomi Banxxx, Diamond Jackson, Jasmine Webb, and Skin Diamond. I was a huge fan of Marie Luv but I think she's retired. I admit I haven't done a great amount of research, but I feel that very few black women reach any visibility in mainstream porn.
I'd describe those as Superstars. Off the top of my head porn superstars would be Jenna Jameson, Sasha Grey, Marilyn Chambers, Ron Jeremy, and Rocco Siffredi. I don't think Carter Cruise, Maddy O'Reilly, Romi Rain, Aurora Snow, Prince Yashua, or Mick Blue are in that category, but I definitely still consider them to be huge stars in the industry.

Actually, learn to read! Quit being such a fanboi for just a second. Every thing I said is of an objective nature. I've been in the Entertainment/Show Business industry for the past 20 years in a variety of capacities so the general nature of my job is to be objective. It doesn't make a difference what I personally like, it's about what the paying customer likes and what or who is going to sell the most tickets. The sheer nature of being involved in what I do involves a lot of repetition so you learn to tune in on the littlest of things. The difference between me and the average fanboi such as yourself is that I have absolutely no vested interest in a entertainment vehicle of any sort. What do I mean by that? Easy, I'm not buying a ticket to see the show, I'm getting paid to be there whether I like it or not. It's my job to make sure the attendees are having a good time. A mainstream example before I give a porn example is Jerry Seinfeld. I've worked 20 Jerry shows in Vegas. The average fan pays $100 per ticket to see Jerry, hence the vested interest, Jerry runs out onto the stage and says, "Hello Las Vegas!" The crowd goes into hysterics, because in their mind, Seinfeld was the funniest show ever and since they paid $100 everything he says is going to be funny. All he did was say "Hello!" My expert opinion, Yes I said expert, (I've worked over 3500 events) is that his show is worth maybe $50 tops, but because people remember the show as being funnier than it actually was, they laugh at his "Hello, Las Vegas!" Porn example would be Bonnie Rotten and Christy Mack, whom we can all agree are similar in overall appearance. Both have been in the business about the same time. Why is Bonnie the bigger star? Bonnie edges out Christy on releases by 25-30%, Bonnie also edges out on hardcore acts in 1/3 of her scenes compared to 10% for Christy. Bonnie is a top porn star, Christy Mack is just some porn girl who got beat up by a MMA guy. This is the "IT" factor I mentioned between the 2 book ends you mentioned above. As far as Jada Fire is concerned, Jada has been in the industry for 15 years and 650+- releases. By using the IAFD filter, 2/3 of those are black on black scenes. After that long of a career, a performer is forgotten about or is looked at as "she's still around" but she certainly isn't booked for top billing. Lastly, I almost hate to say it but if Jada Fire truly was a huge game changing iconic golden age type of performer, her fan appreciation thread on this site would be more than 1/2 a page long. Bottom line is though, while you might not see it because of your vested interest in the subject, I know what I'm talking about.
Nyomi Banxxx retired a long time ago.. Skin doing G/G scenes only Marie Luv came back last year and only shot like 3 scenes, but later(according to her) had a falling out with SpieglerGirls and was dropped from the roster..also stopped doing webcam shows too
I'm not even in disagreement generally speaking , but most of what you say pertaining a "star" would apply to Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian they made an impact and will be remembered for a long time ,maybe even Farrah Abrahams and probably Belle Knox too who at least was a proper porn performer and is widely known to a non porn audience too due to an extensive TV coverage about her, I may add Chyna to the list. Yes some performers pay to get a cover, but still I don't think any producer or director would put on a cover someone who may affect the sales , for example at Digital Playground putting a black star on the cover knowing that their audience is mainly whites who are not accustomed so to speak to see black performer in their movies, yet Marie Luv was almost a regular over there as is Misty Stone at Wicked. Besides the topic is about black performers of today compared to black performers in the past and to judge the different eras rather than establish what black female performer deserves a superstar status especially not compared to white performers whose market and audience are a lot bigger than any niched one. Also some stars were superstars in their special segment of the market , Pinky was one of them , I mean Roxy Raye may be relatively unknown among the big audience but when it comes to extreme anal performers she's a superstars among that special audience

^How long have you been on this site? Lmao. You're forgetting that on this site numerous readers don't think that having any sort of advanced education is a sign of intelligence, because anyone can read a book, but the minute a girl can walk and chew gum at the same time, it makes them a borderline genius. Besides reciting and/or reading stats is just boring.
and what the percentages of sales between Christy Mack and Bonnie Rotten have anything to do with comparing two porn eras pertaining BLACK performers?

It was an example about the "it" factor as to what actually makes a star instead rattling off a bunch of names who fit into a category. IE, the guys who were just naming black girls who did porn as if they were relevant to a non existent golden age of black performers. Edited by - rosco fuji on 9/1/2015 6:27:46 PM

Question for Rosco Fuji: Are you even a fan of black pornstars? Because if you're not currently or never have been a connoisseur or even a consumer of "ebony" porn like some of us are, I don't get how you're so dismissive to the point where you're claiming there never was a golden age of black female stars. We didn't just throw out names of random girls, we gave names of girls who were true stars to us: the actual fans of black pornstars. If you're not or never have been a fan of black pornstars (which I'm assuming is the case since the only names of black pornstars you've given were Skin Diamond and Jada Fire), then how can you comment on this topic? The question isn't "Is there a black female star who has reached Jenna Jameson- or Bonnie Rotten-level of fame?" Obviously that has never been the case. But that's not what defines a "golden age." If you look at my comment on page 1, you'd see why I consider the mid-2000s the true golden age of black female stars.

That would be a big No because I find very few black women attractive. I stand by my exclamation that there was no Golden Age because just because you found a woman attractive, that doesn't make them a star. I covered all of this above. The only reason I mentioned Skin or Jada is because I got beat over the head with them. Everything I said was just a non biased observation.

Obviously the subject is objective..no two list of top Black female stars would be the same shows just how many beautiful Black women were in porn. Heather Hunter was as famous as Sasha Grey she left porn and was successful in entertainment for years. Karrin Steffans or superhead made a name for herself outside of porn. The list goes on and on.

^^ @Rosco Fuji Ok, you stand by your exclamation and I stand by mine. I didn't say "I found these women attractive, that made them stars." If you read my first comment on page 1, I provide reasoning as to why the names I mentioned were considered stars during what I consider the golden age. I don't get how your opinion is unbiased when you yourself said you only find very few black women attractive. That stance makes you ignorant when it comes to black female stars. You chose not to follow black porn, so I don't get how you can refute there ever being a golden age of black female performers when you never watched them in the first place. Edited by - smooth91 on 9/1/2015 11:44:56 PM
I think you didn't get the true meaning of the question , let me rphrase it or at least let me explain how I grasped it anyway. It is meant for black women fans or possibly to those who use to watch black girl in porn Is this era of black performers richer with talents than that before? Are the black females of this era better looking than those who preceded them? their star status among the whole porn is irrelevant , it is specific to BLACK performers Edited by - LCF on 9/2/2015 2:45:51 AM

So, in the past two weeks there's been two "ebony-only" titles released/revealed-Elegant Angel's Porn s Top Black Models Vol. 4 and Hard X's Black Bombshells. I'm especially excited about the fact that Mason & Hard X produced an all-black girls title, although I can't help but notice that both movies have the same casts, save for Cassidy Banks and Ana Foxxx.
^ There is also Black Heat #3 coming from Chris Streams. It again has Anya, Chanell and Cassidy, only no Teanna since she was in the second one. Lisa Tiffian is there instead, and there is probably a fifth unannounced girl too. Not that I am really complaining about seeing more of them but it really does appear there are only like a half dozen Black women that have any chance of getting shot.

As I've mentioned above, I'm unbiased on a daily basis at work, so it's really not that hard to been unbiased on a porn board. I'm saying there was never a golden age of porn for black women, there were never really any black stars, but merely black performers save for 1 or 2, and that people are trying to make something more out of something that just isn't there.

More black people know who Cherokee is than Bonnie Rotten. More black people know who Pinky is than Riley Reid. More black people know who Beauty Dior is than Rachel Starr. More black people know who Kapri Styles is than Mary Cary. And I can go on if there was an actual debate. But there's not Not just that but you're also undermining the teenagers as well and who they like and don't like. Everybody isn't in to white women like that and could care less about what companies are promoting whoever they choose to promote this year. Numbers don't lie but they don't tell you everything. You really think black people are buying these movies that y'all are promoting with all white casts or wm/bf scenarios? Lol, youre a gump if I ever heard of one. We don't even buy pornos like that, most people including white people aren't even buying pornography like that either. Which is why I made that other thread in the first place. Because just because something makes a small or decent profit doesn't mean that its what people are into like that. Most porn today is too bland and it has way too many white dicks in it. Most people are Brown to some degree so who really wants to watch or pay for some pale colored penis fuck an East Asian woman or a southwest Asian woman or a chocolate colored woman or a caramel colored woman or even a white woman?? I think the truth may cause too much commotion in your department because a lot of you seasoned yes men would get that pink slip quick
I want to try to ask it again: does anybody have an idea for the complete lack of over 40 black women in the industry? That of mature women is one of the biggest niches with hundreds of white women, and in japan probably thousands of asian women, so how is it possible that at least in mainstream porn there's only Diamond Jackson? And onestly I can't think of other performers even considering the amateur stuff.
Just sayin: IF there is a "golden Age" of Black female stars, it would be a "new" one, anyway. If this was the 2nd one, then it would be new. And if there never was a first one before, as Rosco Fuji argued, well... then this 1st Golden Age would be "new" even more legitimately ^__^ So this question (Was there already a Golden Age in the past) is not relevant to answering the title question of this thread.
Golden age? There is barely a couple of decent female performers. Those Ana Foxx and Anya Ivy are everywhere I mean literally in every single movie. [mod edit: comment removed. See the ADT forum etiquette, 3rd paragraph.]. Anyone else? No. There were always ugly performers but we used to have choice an there was a number of different ebony girls around (with gems like Tila Flame). Golden age? Gone are the times. I realize he's been banned, but you can find that sort of thing at Evil Angel and many other companies that aren't afraid of getting nasty. And he picked 1 scene out of 100 on Blacked. But the main question is, why wouldn't these gay patrons just watch gay porn? You're an insecure idiot. lol

^ Debating/arguing about which girls in porn are really black has already led to other threads being locked. End it now.
[MOD: Portion removed. Not a topic for discussion here.] But then you have a person deriding the notion of a golden age of black female stars while in the same sentence admitting that he doesn't find most black women attractive. That's just plain out trolling on a message board if you ask me. Why try and pass off your biased opinions on a subject and people that you don't find attractive. But I digress, there have been several golden ages depending when you were born and when you started watching black porn stars. So currently we have: Ana Foxx, Teanna Trump, Jezabel Vessir, Anya Ivy, Chanel Heart, Lisa Tiffian, Yasmine De Leon, Cherry Hilson, Adrian Maya, Cassidy Banks, Nadia Jay, Layton Benton etc.. But the list of black porn stars from the past is long and the amount of black pornstars was greater in the past I will list those that I think qualify on some level: Dee, Obsession, Marie Luv, Jada Fire, Cherokee D'ass, Pinky, Nyomi Banxxx, Vanessa Monet, Monet Divine, Kapri Styles, Sydnee Capri, Adina Jewel, Nyrobi Knight, Janet Jacme, Jennie Pepper, Angel Kelly, Vanessa Del Rio, Vanessa Blue, Lacey Duvalle, Skin Diamond, Heather Hunter, India, Charlie Angel, Sinnamon Love, Carmen Hayes, Midori, Monique, Domonique Simone, Misty Stone, Desiree West, Kitten, Jazmine Cashmere, Megan Vaughn, Angel Cummings, Aryanna Starr, Kelly Starr, Beauty Dior, Desiree Diamond, Donna Red, Kandee Lixxx, Evanni Solei, Diamond Jackson, Kiki Minaj, Candice Nicole, Sierra, Julia Channel, Jemini, Chyanne Jacobs, Alexis Silver, Courtney Devine, Mya Lovely, Jenna Brooks, Tabitha, Tia Sweets, Caramel, Nikara, Catalina Taylor, Devin Deray, Mya G, Benthany Benz, Olivia Winters, Ebony Ayers, Jasmine Webb...etc Some of these stars are already AVN and XRCO Hall of Fame members and others will be honored that way in the future. So depending on your perspective and what/who you enjoying watching there have been several "golden ages" for black female porn. This link has its top 100 and its a good starting place for this kind of discussion. http://www.vladtv.com/article/158311/vladtvs-100-hottest-black-porn-stars Edited by - flash on 9/25/2015 7:22:12 PM

This is the Dark Ages for porn..the same attitudes that brought the Dark Ages to Europe has brought it to porn. The industry never saw a time as bad as this even when the govt was trying to shut it down.
+ Anything he says must be filtered with some thougtful ideas he have expressed on this board, meaning : there's a white conspiracy to keep black porn down The industry is willingly going to default itself because it won't for any reason produce black porn whatever the cost The whole world demands black guys fucking black girls Nobody but the white industry owners wants to watch white girls in porn consider this and reread what he said Edited by - LCF on 9/26/2015 9:51:32 AM

^ The consensus from threads on race in porn is the industry is racist. Racism by definition means the ideas you listed and attributed to me are not a conspiracy theory. It is also obvious the current all white content is not going over well with consumers if studios continue to produce it they don't care about profits.
^ there's no consensus , only some guys possibly very few with multiple accounts repeating this over and over , here and with even more accounts when allowed elsewhere , the entire industry is going downhill but this is not for the reasons you think and keep bringing here very often but in a subtle way , cryptic sometimes. People do care about THIS porn, do not care about paying for it, You said once that whites aren-t the majority of Earth's population, this is true, but they are those who CAN pay for porn billions of human beings are starving, at war or live in countries where they risk their life if the do or consume porn , those don't count. Most countries who produce porn mostly shoot their own , in Japanese porn only but 1 every thousand movies is IR or feature non Japanese people Already in the States Latin IR as it is said doesn't sell well, it is safe to assume most of Latino don't buy IR porn they prefer their own As for Brazilian porn they are so mixed it is even difficult to understand whether it-s IR or just very tanned guys. African porn is basically non existent same for Arab porn, but if it's a clue for you most of the escorts hired in Dubai are whites Also the racism of "the Industry" may apply fo American porn surely the rest of the world just don't give a flying fuck to this issue

^If I say things in subtle, cryptic ways it is out of respect for the board and people who support the industry. Porn was good to me and I don't want to see it go extinct because a few small mind alleged business people can't see the forest for the trees. The consumer base might be white males but if 1 drop of Black blood makes a person Black, which was the rule in the good ol days lol, the consumer base is a lot smaller than porn companies think.

I started a thread a while back which spoke about the growing number of black/mixed female performers turning their backs on black porn and only working with Caucasian and Latino males. Sadly it got derailed and ultimately locked due to petty arguments that had nothing to do with the topic at hand. Well, I've just read an interesting article HERE which discusses the well known race problems that lay within the porn industry. With James Dean in particular sharing his disappointment at what is currently going on in the business as it pertains to women working with black men. Of course this has been debated a great deal over the years but one thing that really caught my attention in the midst of the article was Isiah Washington's comments...this is what he said
Thinking about it the mixed race performer who said that to Isiah i would guess it would be either Cassidy Banks, Liza Rowe, Jaye Austin, Adrian Maya or Anya Ivy as they all practice this trend!!...but who knows? The list is certainly growing though. Jazzy Jamison, Isabella Chrystin, Jezabel Vessir, Neo Milk, Ava Sanchez, Peyton Rain, Ajas XXX also ring a bell. While veterans like Diamond Jackson stopped working with black men a few years ago too. The thing i wonder about with all this stuff going on is what does the future really hold for the black male performers in this porn industry when the majority of the female performers, from every single background be it White, Black, Asian and Latino, don't want to work with them? Hell even some BBW's are doing the same thing now (smh). But my point is regardless of the race issues that have plagued the porn industry since it's inception, black porn has always been a platform for black male performers to get into the industry and even have regular shoots. But today the black porn genre is suffering due to porn studios (especially the whole of Florida) turning their noses up at it and now this new trend amongst black female performers not wanting to work with black males. So what fans of the genre are seeing these days are the same females like Chanell Heart, Teanna Trump, Leyton Benton, Ana Foxx, Misty Stone etc working with the same black males!!..so there's rarely anything fresh on the table. I hope the likes of Isiah Washington and the other hard working black male performers keeps their heads up in the face of this...adding to what the mixed chick told Isiah you have Any Ivy putting "no black men" on her agency card and Adrian Maya trashing black men in interviews so I'm sure many would be very disappointed with what they are seeing. [Edit]i was advised to move this post here from another thread.

Just saw a scene called "RealityKings in the VIP.. the booty bunch" and it features a whole plethora of girls such as Kimmy Granger, Piper Perri, AjaXXX, Liza Rowe, Sadie Blair, Alexa Mae and Adrian Maya amongst others. Whilst the male talent was Alex Jones and some white guy who's name i can't recall. So they are all dancing in the club, some showing their asses, others their tits and all are having a good time. They gravitate to the men and start dancing up on them. Now i was intrigued because we know Adrian Maya has openly slammed black men before but with Alex being mixed race and having worked with several women who don't do IR i thought to myself "hhm this could be interesting to see". And it all started off pretty good..her and Alex were dancing on each other and then started kissing..then others joined in and Adrian gave him a BJ and was near Alex alot. Then the sex started and Kimmy was riding Alex...AjaXXX rode Alex...Alex had Sadie in doggy...and where was Adrian Maya? f#cking the white dude she'd hardly been around all night LOL.. man that sh/t made me laugh :D . Even Alex who is mixed got dodged!!..oh well i guess this is the trend and ignorant minds will insure that it remains.

Agreed. We always had films like just dont bite it , head clinic etc etc and afrocentric producers like darkside ent etc. That dosnt seem to be as much the case nowadays but that may also partly reflect a more general change (decline) in porn production.
Slightly hesitant to bump this but just wanted to make a note that this Friday is a mini golden age for me personally! Chanell Heart's First Anal on Tushy and Ana Foxxx's first DP at HardX both happening on the same day.

This is an old thread but what the hell.... I think the golden of black female stars has just passed. I can tell you about 7-8 years ago, there were a good 10 that I thought were incredible, and since then I haven't seen any like them again. Beauty Dior (in her prime) was unreal, Angel Eyes, Skyy Black, sinnamon love, Kali Dream, Sydnee Capri, Aryana Star, Diamond Mason, Charokee D'ass, Jada Fire and Candace Von. They were all in there prime doing shoots around the same time, and since then, I haven't seen any equal to those I just mentioned.
