Actually, to my knowledge some girls have genuinely been scared away from posting here. If we haven't heard from some in a while I would more likely assume that they just got busy. However, I remember reading similar thread to this one when I first joined a year or so ago and longtime members mentioned a couple girls who had dropped by and then one guy was a real ass to her and she never came back. It's happened apparently.

Some people hear about the forum and how great it is, they come in, and then the first dozen thread they look at are all the hard stuff, dap, dpp, etc., and think 'this is not for me'. (emails have been received to that effect)

It was also one of the reasons that a new forum, "The Feature Side" was created for the slightly softer, gentler, or classic erotica in the porn world.

Then of course there are some who want to do nothing but blast others. That of course is discouraged.

Let's be honest about this. When I see most professionals posting here (especially female talent), I look at it as self promotion.

Ex professionals don't post here, for the same reason we don't see the actor who played Radar (MASH) appearing on Leno.

Why should he/they bother.

There are exeptions, of course.

I don't know. I think that might be overstating it. The girls posting here aren't here promoting themselves nearly as much as the inevitable, "Who's this girl from this site you've never seen before" coming from posters who only ever post such questions. But even there you have exceptions, when somebody can just honestly be asking a question or only coming to the forum when they are in need of an answer to such a question.

And with the girls there are the ones who drop by only every now and then, each time mysteriously mentioning their website.

But, hell, I promote the fucking shit out of TSC around here and don't really mean to. Everyone has their own agenda I guess.

Personally, regardless of their intentions, I am happy to have read the words of Tina Tyler, Tricia Deveraux, Keiko, Kami Andrews, Pason, Amber Peach, Christie Lee, Jewel De'Nyle, Michelle Lay, Roxanne Hall, Tristan Seagal, Erik Everhard, Mik John, and so many others.

As for people being scarred off by some unpleasant posters , sure that is likely . Then again , have some porn pros also been encouraged to hang around because of friendly members ? Mike Quasar and Dumblonde could be an example .

For myself it doesn't matter if someone has sex on or off camera , that doesn't really factor in when determining if they're good folks . Out of the industry people , I have more interest and respect ( even affection ) for those who post that little bit extra . If someone is posting not just for their own commercial gain , but also for the community , that makes me far more sympathetic towards them .

I don't know how you can say that and not think that you are insulting MOST of the industry folks who post here. MANY are as much a part of the community as anyone else. A FEW clearly use the forum only for promotion, but that is very few. There's a big difference between passing on information and promotion. And so MANY industry people are clearly here for the exchange of ideas.

But as far as the issue of self-promotion, it doesn't bother me in the least. So what if someone wants to pass a long that they've got a big scene coming out soon that they WANT people to see in hopes of impressing some people.

The way I see it, the best self-promotion in the world is just being cool to your fans. More quasi-clebrities have won my fandom just by being nice to me for a few seconds than by bombarding me with fliers or the like.

I just get offended when people say I'm all about self promotion because I think it de values what I have to say. i am not selling anything and I have worked with most the producers here before I joined adt. One would think that porn fans in a porn community website designed to give one information before one purchases more porn would WANT as much information as they can about porn straight from the people making it - whether those people making it were "promoting it" or not. How else would you get that information?

I do chuckle as I am sure many of you do when a girl drops by and her very first post is PURE promotion and we never see her again.

I have had companies like RLD who I think have NOT shot me because of ADT. Well, they wouldnt' touch me. Why? I think too many people knew about me. How funny is that? I had only shot 1 time for them... 1.... until Jake Malone said I want to shoot you because you are good. He shot me twice. I love Jake Malone.

I think that there are people at ADT who have followed my movies and me because I have posted here. I think other people have become too familar with me. They think they know me too well and therefore aren't intrigued by me anymore.

It is a double-edged sword.

The only answer... a girl will only post here consistently and across many topics if she like porn, if she likes sex, and if she likes talking about it with you.

You don't have to slobber over every word she says; you also can't treat her like shit. It is a double-edge sword for you as well.

It's a pain when you get rude bastards on these forums who go out of their way to insult people, but it's the nature of the internet, and Steph, Drew and the various mods I think do a good job of asking people to act a bit more maturely. Thing is, performers who might not be that used to this forum (or net.forums in general) might post something, get flamed by some clown, then leave and never come back, assuming that it's the usual way people on ADT behave.

On the other hand, there have been industry people who's first post is a huge blast of self-promotion. Usual result is the thread gets moved to the Press releases section, where such stuff goes, and they're asked to post relevant stuff in the relevent forums in future. Some do, others disappear back inot the night. /shrug

It's a bigger shame to me when established and responsible posters who contribute a lot decide to take their leave, but it's the nature of these things I guess.

I watch a lot of porn,... and I mean a lot. As a Content Analyst (Sooo official sounding isn't it?) for the company I'm employed by, I see most everything short of the stuff released by a handful of studios. I spend around 8.5 hours a day, watching and reading about porn. When I'm not doing that, I'm looking into First Amendment issues and other legal concerns.
