Jill Kelly is already gone. It's not clear there's anyone left who can sign paychecks, which may be a moot point since the guy in charge usually doesn't leave much spare change in the bank when he vanishes in these circumstances. Next week may be interesting for anyone trying to cash a JKP paycheck. The article implies Pleasure might buy the assets, whatever that might be, but again it's not clear there's anyone left who can sign those papers. Bob Friedland wasn't why anyone liked JKP of course so it's not necessary "the end" of whatever it is you liked in JKP. The question is: where will the talent, both in front and behind the camera, wind up? And, are any other companies willing to pursue that genre? JKP didn't succeed financially, but it's not clear that the old man ran it to succeed (he ran it to have some hot babes around in the last few years of his life). Lately they made a tremendous effort to hire very good-looking guys, they always had this policy of hiring female directors as much as possible, and I was extremely pleased with video quality for recent titles such as "Tyra's Little Secrets", "Tyra's Runway Rendezvous" & "Nikki's Land of Candy" (the latter directed by Jill herself & full of cool visuals). There was a tremendous progress these last few months, I had absolutely no problem with their couples' content (not everybody is into gapes), my only gripe was with their contract girls, Tyra simply irritates me and Nikki can be very aloof. The departure of Shyla, Cindy & Tyler was indeed a huge blow. They are still the best company out there in terms of global eye candy. If Pleasure does indeed buy them, I hope they continue with this policy. [Link]

Other than Jenna Haze, I didn't seem to ever recognize any of the girls they'd been using. Jenna could get me to pretty much watch anything she was in, but she was only doing g/g. I have no problem with g/g's, but I would need to see someone like Jenna take dick. This can't be good though. JKP allowed more women to work than most other companies could. I know a lot of fans want to see more and more gonzo and all-sex films, but it seems clear to me that a lot of female performers can't get hired routinely doing them. I think the cable market is still viable, and I gotta think JKP made a great deal of their money thru cable television. [Link]

I know it's easy to be blinded by sugarplumb fairies & Jenna Hazes dancing around your head, but at what point is anybody going to get the message -- even if they put out some product you liked, JKP was from day one a vehicle for BF to plunder cash, expense account livin' large and porn star pussy. There was a lot of catering to starlets because there was more interest in having a harem around than making commercial product. The company was designed to self-destruct. Jill Kelly is a very well known name and I have been a fan since I was younger. I didn't know who this Freidland guy was or what he was up to. All I knew is that they put out some good ads every month in the AVN, had some great contract girls and made some decent product. I was selling JKP DVDs and while they weren't flying off the shelf they were selling pretty good so I thought why not buy some stock in the company. This was right around the time of the Bizarre/JKP merger and I thought that was a good thing for the company. Boy was I wrong. I am not sure how all that stock stuff works but I am very interested to see what Jill Kelly does now. I wouldn't think she could use that name again with another company but who knows? [Link]

IVD has taken over the Jill Kelly operation. And Kelly and an attorney from Las Vegas are attempting to form a new company called Bad Intentions. The inside snitches at JKP that were linking all the inside info were a former employee who was a production manager and his girlfriend who's still with the company. Salesman Mike Barbella handed in his resignation, and Dan Ice, who was running the company, has also taken off. Ice stays on the company's board of directors. Barbella and Ice both made the decision to leave together. IVD acquired all the receivables. IVD also on Friday foreclosed on their 15 million shares in the company as well as on the receivables. IVD will be picking up all the masters and all the product from JKP. Customers of JKP are receiving letters indicating that they must make all payments to a company called Alliance, which is holding all the JKP notes at 80% on the dollar. Attorney Philip Star and Jill Kelly are also back in the company. Star and Kelly fired all the college employees. Star, who was first brought in, in an attempt to oust Bob Friedland, has put himself on the payroll for $4,000 a week. Star has been described as some "nobody attorney from Vegas" who's a martinet, plops his feet up on a desk, drives a 17 year-old car, wears no socks and white button-up dress shirts with collars pulled straight up. Star also wears hair dye. Star, who's been compared to a Regan Senter with a law degree, apparently hooked up with Kelly; and Kelly is using him as an advisor. Kelly signed some documents allowing Star to be on the board of directors. Star and Kelly have been working for weeks to wrest control of the company from Dan Ice after Bob Friedland took off. And IVD was fighting to acquire the whole line from Ice. At some point in time Ice realized he was in the middle of a losing battle and there was no way to keep IVD out of this takeover scenario. Ice has resigned and the JKP company will be bankrupt. Star, this past Wednesday, announced that he was turning the operation over to Star, that he had been forced out. Ice began handing out checks telling employees that the checks were all good and would clear. Ice then announced he was on a plane and leaving Thursday. With Ice's announcement, Barbella immediately began packing his belongings. Kelly will re-open the company, which was $3 million in debt, as Bad Intentions. Kelly will be taking $5,000 a week for herself. At present JKP is selling comps at new release prices. All the editors have been fired as well. [Link]
