The infamous Traci Lords is definitely not active. In fact, she wrote a scathing book that put blame on the porn industry.
Also, the fact that she was the one who duped producers into thinking that she was over 18 when she started performing makes me think that she wouldn't be welcome even if she wanted to return. After all, she's the reason why there are the 2257 record keeping requirements.
I don't blame the industry for being pissed at her after what she did. Taking advantage of the system and then almost single-handedly destroying it. Thankfully the industry survived while she went on to make "Crybaby"
She'll pop up on regular TV or movies every once in a while being the opportunist she is.

I'm not being negative; I'm telling you what she says in her book. Most people who've reviewed it have said that her account is bizzare--that she blames everyone but herself even though she's the one who used a fraudulent ID to prove her age. She also seems to have had no problem using her fame to advance her singing and acting careers.
As far as your question about the IDs, she obtained an official government ID by presenting someone else's birth certificate at the department of motor vehicles. So it wasn't like the producers didn't ask for ID or simply chose to ignore an obvious problem. The fact that Traci looked more physically mature than 16 didn't set off any warning bells.
I think what Dr. Hardcore means by 'active' is that Traci still appears in mainstream movies and on television.
i haven't read her book, but i would love to see Traci doing porn movies again - she's still as stunning as ever. However, one shouldn't hold one's breath for that, as the odds for that are next to none.
If Tracy Lords were to say that she was going to start doing porn again, there isn't a company, producer or director who wouldn't cut off his left testical to be in on that gold mine. Even the ones she duped way back when would want to be apart of the money that dvd would rake in! I'm pretty sure their moral outrage and personal indignation would disappear.
My understanding is that she had her own legitimate ID(s). Furthermore, it was due to the fact that porn studios had relied on genuine government-issued ID(s) to establish Traci's age that they were never prosecuted.
Traci is still hot enough – and there is such a pentup demand for her – that she, and the studio that snags her, would make millions should she make a cumback. It's not as far-fetched as it would seem. Traci's mainstream career has gone as far as it's going to go. And, she has a few more years left to make a porn cumback while she still has the looks. Shit, she could probably start her own studio out of the bonanza she would reap with her first couple DVDs.
No one says you have to like her... but I've got to believe that next to everyone wants to she her in action again.
You forget one factor - $$$. She is bankable, she will sell. Her body was smoking back then, if she still looks good guys will buy. Besides, how many directors and producers are left from back then? Everybody else sees 2257 as normal.
