Throughout the ages, if you get paid for sex, then you were deemed a "whore." More currently, plenty of porn stars (female and male) prostitute themselves beyond the industry and are active players in all manners of the sex trade. Basically, "times is hard on the boulevard" to quote an old rap track. That said, I don't advocate violent abuse, making anyone do anything against their will, or subjecting anyone to inhumane treatment. Never have, never will. But let's not over-romanticize these performers and waste too much time and too many keystrokes worried about hurt feelings. Sometimes black is black, white is white, a spade is a spade, and a whore is a whore.
Unfortunately for you guys, you've stumbled upon a spot on the internet that advocates an environment that supports performers. I don't find the OP's little jab to be amusing at all. There absolutely is a way to use the term "whore", writing it with derision and/or as a judgmental, back-handed insult isn't one of them.

There are plenty of words in the English language that are derogatory to some. If it gives you a high to insult people in order to elevate yourselves than go ahead. My own father used the words hookers and whores years ago and I did not like it even as a young boy. I can't stand political correctness but getting off on insulting others is not to my liking.

It is not the use of a term the problem , it is how it is referred to someone the problem, even when it is the truth (and I'm not saying anything is) would you like to be called "cuckold" by everybody see you? I think this is a humorous thread, it's very Jonathan Swiftish (think of "A Modest Proposal"). I understand why we shouldn't talk about porn stars as though they aren't there. However-I would mention that like any other poster here, some of them have the thick skins they should have (being in the public eye, like any celebrity) and some... don't. Taking stuff personally in show business is kind of like dating Dr. Kavorkian. And last I knew-calling a porn star a "whore" was a compliment. well you know it's not up to you to say what is offensive but to those who felt offended ,the word "negro" in spanish means black and so does the word "niger" in Latin so if you call a black guy that way according to these meanings they shouldn't be offended and even be proud of their black heritage. You just gotta look at context clues some, if it's clear that someone is trying to be offensive then not good. But if they are not then let it go.
