I hope this is reasonable to post again here. Thanks for your consideration, I think this is an interesting topic. I'm going to start my research in this section of the forum, but may extend to others depending on response. I am looking for a web based way to start a porn collection, as I am not able to collect DVDs in my home - for relationship reasons, naturally. I have a great mainstream DVD collection, and I love to arrange it, pick out 10 or so movies every once in a while and display them or as a reminder to screen again. Just an easy way to have fun and enjoy it. Mainstream is acceptable in this way, adult is not. Now I consider this while looking at my I-tunes and wonder what engines will be available now and in the future to facilitate web based adult collections? I'd love a way to purchase DVDs online and be able to house them all in the same place, like I-tunes. I'd think it might even be reasonable to think you could purchase individual scenes, much like you can purchase singles of albums. The album, collectively, is cheaper but not mandated to enjoy specific content. This philosophy should be at the top of the priority list for adult production companies. Pretty soon, more people will be choosing web based content exclusively over DVDs. Just look at the Netflix issue. It is essential that the service allow content to be imported or uploaded from independent production companies, I'm not a computer person so bear with my general idea. For example, I'd have a few movies from Elegant Angel, a few from Jules Jordan, Evil Angel, and so on. The content would be mine and accessible through this service whenever I log in. I purchase the content once, it gets exported to this online movie cue, and its in perpetuity. To make it better, as I mentioned earlier, I could purchase individual scenes from companies, web-based production companies like Reality Kings and Bang Bros, and maybe even exclusive content from individual stars webpages - like Tory Lane and Annette Schwartz have web only content. The set up would look like I-tunes, maybe with the DVD cover that scrolls through as you search for the scene you want. Then, like I-tunes, when you click either the whole title, or the individual scene wanted, it pops up on your screen for your enjoyment. After you have the content available, you can organize it the way you like. There would likely be a caveat that the service does not allow burning CDs for your own use, as that would be hugely problematic, but it would be a small price to pay for being able to log in on any computer and having your collection available anytime, anywhere online. I can't have the collection I truly want in my home. I'd love to have the complete Big Wet Asses series on a shelf somewhere, next to the Buttwoman titles, the Ass Worship titles, all on a shelf, looking pretty. I can't, though. This would be my only way to be a collector and spend money on the industry. I had to give up my DVD collection 2 years ago. I don't want to sign up for 3,4,5 different companies to have the variety I really want. I want my own collection and this is the only medium by which I see that happening. Anyone have any insights, ideas, or resources for things similar to this? What do you think of having your personal adult library online? I truly beleive DVDs, for the most part, will be minimal or gone in 5-10 years. What will we do as collectors? Edited to amend course of topic: I looked at purchasing a video on JJV and it did pop up that I could own the video streaming in my own VOD library. There was also a way to purchase videos to I-Tunes. I'm curious now about how well these services work? Does anyone have a reccomendation? What if I purchase several hundred/thousand dollars of content over the next few years and this business goes under - do I loose everything? Is that the inherent risk? I also noted this service mad reccomendations for titles from other production companies. Once I start, am I held to being able to purchase only from this provider? I really want this VOD library, but it seams like the company needs to prove that it will be stable for the next 15-25-35+ years that I likely may want to enjoy adult videos. Is that an unreasonable expectation? I'm learning as I go and am hoping for guidance and quality comments from ym fellow collectors. Thanks for any help! Edited by - mythmaker on Sep 20 2011 [Link] |

| MythMaker Member Jada... the best thing in porn 919 Posts 7/07 | It's not what i'm looking for, exactly, but it does answer the question of how to build a library of sorts without having 50, 100, 200 DVDs of porn out where anyone can see em. Since the trend of owning media is relocating almost exclusively to digital, I suppose I'll need to wait for the type of service I'm describing. You're right in describing the video collection as being essentially "out there in the ether" when I turn off my computer. That's how I look at the songs in my I-tunes. Are they taking up memory on my computer? I'm not tech savvy enough to know. Ideally, you could have a collection managed by a site like that, with cool was to organize and catalog your titles, and able to stream them, or individual scenes, whenever you want if you log in. You'd also be able to back them up on a memory chip or something, or have a serial number that identifies you've purchased the content in case the service goes under or stops operating for some reason. Then you could petition the companies to re-issue the content when you subscribe to a different server - as there would be competition if this thing existed. A couple extra questions in addition to the original: How many movies could you fit on an external memory source? Again, I'm not tech savvy and don't know what they're called. Also, what do people think of the type of service I'm describing, and how viable is it - in your opinion? |

| MythMaker Member Jada... the best thing in porn 919 Posts 7/07 | Yes, thank you... I did acknowledge the suggestions and understand more about what it means to utilize their stream to own services as opposed to downloading content to my computer as a means of collection adult titles. My continued inquiry and interest is around the future of such purchasing and collecting as the services expand and develop in accord with the basic transition from DVD to digital. I am asking these questions as someone who enjoys adult material, but does not have the luxury of being very public in such regard. Discretion is necessary, and the investment needs to be logical and secure. In that regard, I cannot open up accounts with 5-10 different sites to achieve diversity, rather I need to gather as much info as possible from as many reliable sources to choose 1, 2, 3 tops that will meet my needs. So yes, I did see the list, and am thankful. A list lacks salient and important details, hence my further inquiry. Sorry for the long, defensive post, but this is pretty important and I think a good topic for all of us who want to get the best value for our money over the ong term. Thanks again folks, and I hope this topic stays alive! |
| MythMaker Member Jada... the best thing in porn 919 Posts 7/07 | All in all, aside from the reservations about the potential of losing an entire catalog should the webpage fold, this has the features I am describing. I believe. |
| FyreTV Deactivated User The Ultimate Adult Video Experience 54 Posts 1/11 | As to your point about losing everything if we fold, that is just the risk you run with any cloud based service. It's also not a new risk, ever had a hard drive crap out on you? All those files you saved there are now lost. Ever scratched a record back in the day? Can't replace it. Such is life in the digital age. That said, we've been around since 2008 and don't plan on going anywhere. I was just filming our TV commercial slated to air this Xmas season, not an investment one makes if they are about to shut the doors. My (completely biased) $.02: Set up a free account with us and play around. If you don't like what we have to offer, don't buy anything and come back and tell me how we can improve. If nothing else, you'll get Wealth and Deception free. |
