| AC Cream Deactivated User 1066 Posts 5/04 |  Posted - Sep 3 2005 : 1:15AMI have always battled spyware and I kinda got cocky thinking I could always find a way to beat it. That was until Thursday morning. I'm not 100% sure what spyware it was or how it found my computer. I was on Myspace when it happened. This thing popped up as a warning to "turn off your 3rd party browser support" I clicked the X on that warning and immediately I was flooded with about 100 pop ups in about 2 minutes. Which as you can imagine crashed my PC. I was then unable to startup windows for longer than a couple minutes before it crashed again. I believe the main spyware is TargetNet. I've tried to search the internet for how to manually delete TargetNet. All I could find was geek speak that I couldn't understand. If any of you all that are regulars at tech forums could please find out the .exe's in processes and the .dll's in my registry that I need to delete to remove TargetNet I would really appreciate it. Please don't recommend that I try ad-aware, spy-bot, or that stuff. I have ad-aware, spy-bot, spy sweeper, spy subtract, and I also have virus protection. None are able to beat this new spyware. Until those searchers update and include this new spyware I have to do it manually. Thanks, AC Cream [Link] |

| jamesn Senior Member Cambridge, MA 750 Posts 1/04 | Posted - Sep 3 2005 : 2:25AM give that a shot, just looking up targetnet it seems like it's either not the problem or you're going to have to get it from regedit if spybot, etc. don't catch it. have you used microsoft's antispyware as well? i'd take a look at at least hijackthis and cwshredder and all of the small standalones on http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html try opera or firefox in the meantime, they'll get you back surfing without being affected like ie.
