They died for lack of sales, as Billy said. There are a couple of gonzo companies still out there but they mainly release comps with new footage only every so often. I doubt even Evil Angel and JJ are making any money. The web sites were in better shape but are facing the same crisis now. The girls are hit worst of all. Three years ago a girl could at least make enough to live the glamorous life of a porn star - a new little dog & handbag to take to PSK - and it was a better life for a couple of years than back in the trailer park. But now I doubt there are many girls (maybe a dozen) who make enough from shooting porn to pay the rent. They pretty much all have to have other income to survive, either a day job, a night "job", a sugar daddy, something. Working twice a month at $600 per scene doesn't cut it. (put another way, most of the girls would find stocking shelves at Wal-Mart makes more money than shooting porn, if they can master the art of showing up to work each day, on time, and work-ready) [Link] |
