Interesting article on porn star James Deen. I haven't seen him in anything yet (if I have, I don't know it), but he seems clean-cut from the photos. It backs up something I've complained about in reviews, and of the things that's really turned me off of nearly all new straight porn: the male actors all look like thugs from work-release programs at the local prison. They're ripped and tatted and bald. Supposedly, the guy in porn videos represents "me," and that ain't me. And it's often so distracting that it ruins the whole clip for me. I'll have to see if he's in a screener and order it...

^^ You seriously haven't seen him in any videos? I think there's a thread asking if there's anyone but him in recent porn. He was also AVN's Male Performer of the Year a couple of years ago. And I don't know what ripped guys you're seeing lately. They're all over the place in body types as far as I can see, from paunchy to fit, and I don't think there's any mandate that they represent the "average guy (or you, as you put it)", although, obviously, there are viewers that would like it that way. I'm not amongst them, personally. I just want a guy who can get a woman motivated and put her on best display, whatever that takes, including talking and promoting some real chemistry.
What have you been watching for the last few years, jayo? Okay, I just looked up what you have reviewed for ADT, and it trends heavily towards European porn, solo or lesbian porn, or even both. If the movies you've reviewed is at all representative of what all of the porn you watch is like, that explains a lot. But in the last several years James Deen has shot a LOT of scenes, for a lot of different companies, both for DVD or Blu Ray release and for pay sites. He's definitely not been restricting himself to a few companies or niches.
Just an observation but to do a poll regaurding porn in adt and think it relates to the average consumer is questionable at the very least. Thats a bit like asking the crazies in the nut house why the hell everyone is crazy. The data from ADT survey at best would show that pornograph taste tend to grow more toward the out landish or more hardcore. Yet even that is a big maybe. You need a wider range of people for a decent sample test and trying to get one on this site alone is not a very good idea.
Funny--after the comment that he's in everything, I just looked at the screener list, and the only item that lists him is "Assterpiece Theater 2." I'll keep an eye out, though.
Reading here and there on ADT I found many posts against him over some months , I can't understand why, there's people saying he hates women, other that he isn't enough muscular to play mean. I actually didn't noticed anything of this he's a solid performer with a decent wood unlike many others pretending to enjoy sex with a soft dick and luckily enough doesn't occupy the screen with a fat-ass and big shoulders so that we can see the actress better , also I saw him in many passionate featured productions including some scenes for NA or Brazzers in some other has been preventing the girl from enjoying sex not allowing her to get comfortable but I believe he followed the orders of the director as he wasn't the only one doing this in those movies. Also when he performs with his (former?) girlfriend Joanna Angel always delivers great scenes (that's easy with Joanna) So why so many people don't like him or even hate him?
It's been a few years since I looked at the screener list, I don't even know how to log onto that list anymore, but as I recall, there were always many titles claimed nearly as soon as they were added, while many other titles from lesser studios could languish unclaimed for years, it appeared. Perhaps he just happens to appear in many of the screeners that get claimed as soon as they are listed. Also, not all companies even give screeners to the ADT screener program. He may be overexposed in the opinions of some, and it seems many male porn viewers can find something to be irritated about with male performers that others are just fine with. And the viewers irritated by a male performer may all have different reasons. Personally, I don't see the thugs that so many others complain about, not among performers regularly cast in non-group scenes with top female performers. Usually, I tend to blame the scenario of a scene more than the male performer(s) if I find them annoying or turning me off, at least until they have turned me off in multiple different scenes. Though maybe I might be less forgiving if I first see them in a scene with no plot at all, they're just playing their regular porn personae, than if I first see them in a scene with a strong fantasy element.
No arguments. My only point about the screener list was that there was only one item for me to get (for free) to see him, and it's a title I'm not interested in. So I'll have to go through the regular rental stores and see if he's in something I'd want to see.
