Her iconic status is seems is mostly due to her looks. I guess she embodies the perfect North American ideal of a blonde bombshell.

ALthough I feel she is a little overhyped to justify her that status. I mean is she really that much more beautiful than a d Nikita Denise, Silvia Saint or Angel Dark (who I like better as performers). She has taken an industry that is mostly controlled by men, and taken it by storm.

Jenna is very attractive, but that is NOT totally why she is successful. She is clever & knew how to market heself. For someone who is as successful as Jenna Jameson, she really hasn't done a whole lot of adult movies, compared to others in the industry. That is also a reason she is so popular(supply and demand) I know the people on the boards, like to talk about other women in the industry, but the general public knows "JENNA JAMESON" and when a new movie comes out, they want to see it.

I think she generates interest because she has tons of charisma, articulate, and truly is a business woman. The girl is just plain smart.

When you are in Forbes with Oprah, you know you have made it. Jenna also has acting ability. She has had guest appearances on some shows, and she was on Mr. Sterling, before it was cancelled.

Although, I do think Jenna is somewhat *limited* people will accept her in b movie roles and an occasional tv appearance, but in general if the religious right hears she has some recurring mainstream role on network tv, they will send there usual form letters, and that will be the end of it. What is interesting is I think Jenna was a recurring role on Mr. Sterling, before it was cancelled. So I was surprised the religious right did not attack, but then again the show only lasted a few weeks.

It seems like the reality show never went through, but it seems like it was more because she is in disputes with Judith Reagan(sp), but I think she can get past the religious right on that one, because it would be on cable. They already did an "E! true hollywood story on her" and if people like Whitney Houston, Danny Bonaduce, Anna Nicole Smith can have one I can't see why Jenna can't

But I think a lot of her success is do to that fact, she comes across likeable. Paris Hilton is revolting in my opinion. She gets lots of mainstream press, but Paris has done porn and an awful reality show as well as a bad personality. And they feature her on Entertainment Tonight way too often. I don't get her appeal, but I get Jenna's.

If you think about it, it is kind of funny. I am not crazy about Tyra Banks, but Tyra treated her like a TRUE celebrity! I can't imagine hearing Ellen Degeneres say, today we have Jenna Jameson, but it some ways its not really fair, because Paris did her show a few weeks ago. Paris also has a foul mouth, and she returns her dogs when she doesn't like them anymore.

I still think Jenna is making all the right moves, because now she is aligning(sp) herself with more mainstream people.

She rightly eschewed anal IMO in order to separate herself from every other girl who does it. She slowly built an empire and is now a savvy business woman. I belonged to her website for a while, but after being initally very active in it, she tailed off her involvement, which led to my canceling.

One thing that I have noticed is that she seems to have a tendency to stretch the truth when it really isn't necessary. I've seen her make comments in different interviews that are polar opposite of each other. She told O'Reilly that she doesn't drink, when she does.

Anyway, those are minor things. I agree that she does have some acting ability, and had she not done porn first, she probably could have been a working actor. Not great mind you. Just a warning to anyone considering buying Jenna Loves Pain, I don't recommend it. No sex at all if memory serves. It didn't merit a second viewing for me.

Hell I could probably write a thesis on Jenna's claim to fame.
However in my mind she is NOT a "pornstar", She is a "star".
Jenna has made it mainstream for the most part, personally I always
felt that was her goal. However my feeling is she opened up this industry
more than any performer I can think of in the past. Where as people like
Nina Hartley (Man I love that woman!!!!!) only really reached people
who were already fairly open minded, I think Jenna being a "name brand"
has brought alot of people who otherwise might have never watched a porno
into the fold.

My personal view on Jenna.
She is a very hot girl with a good head on her shoulders.
I loved her book.
Her scenes while a little to vanilla for me were always very
hot. She gave 100% to what she was doing at the time and really
that's all you can ask.

So whether you love her or hate her (or love to hate her...heheheh)
No one can ever say she didn't have an impact on the business.

Note: I use the quotations around "pornstar" and "star" because personally
I don't buy into either. A person is a person, doesn't matter if you see
