For a first impression, I was very disappointed with this DVD. It isn't quite your standard compilation, as it includes interviews with Joy King and directors such as Michael Zen and Jim Enright who worked with Jenna in 1995 to lead into the scenes. I can't remember, but I think there were only six scenes in the feature and the feature only lasts 90 minutes. It's far from a complete collection of Jenna year by year, and I think that's probably my biggest disappointment from what I see.
Granted, putting together a complete collection of Jenna from 1995 would probably take up over two DVDs (and that was just the start for Jenna). According to RAME (perhaps the greatest resource anybody could have on porn!), she had 3 scenes in Blue Movie , 5 in Cover to Cover , 1 in The F Zone (which is included as an extra in the 1995 Anthology), 5 scenes in The Kiss , 3 in Priceless , 2 in Virtual Reality 69 , and 6 in The Wicked One . That's twenty five scenes. Perhaps it could have been done as a two DVD set, but that also means that fans would expect a complete Jenna for 1996 when I think she did many more scenes.
That said, I think this DVD is a bit of a blunder and shows fairly well how a comp shouldn't be done. There's plenty of thought on how comps should and shouldn't be done. I like that Wicked put the interviews there, but I think they could have had some better picks. There's nothing here from Brad Armstrong, nor from Steve Orenstein. I don't think I'm alone in thinking the Jenna is one of the main ladies who put Wicked on the map of porno, and the head of the company (who's appeared in a few of the behind the scenes features briefly) won't even show his face to say how much Jenna helped them out?
The length and number of scenes also turns me off. This is just a guess, but I would expect the VHS release of this title to be the movie only. To not include Jenna's scene from The F Zone seems wrong when you easily have the time to do so and it's her only scene in the movie! This should have been at least a two hour feature, and the start of releasing a complete collection of Jenna's scenes from Wicked. With Jenna doing twenty five scenes for Wicked in 1995 I don't think many of her fans would have a problem shelling out for a two disc set to have all of her scenes from that year in one collection. I also don't think they would have a problem buying a series of them. I can see a series possibly being more preferable because I could see 1995 having two volumes while later years might have three or four. As released, however, it looks like WIcked is just going to release a smattering of Jenna's scenes in a short compilation for each year.
I really hope I'm wrong, but I can't help but think that Wicked took one of their geese that laid the golden egg and traded it for a chicken because the golden eggs made lousy omelets.
