Disagree...Tera Patrick (despite her willingness only to do hubby on camera) probably gets the throne when Jenna steps down, and even then it will take YEARS before anohter woman is as popular in the industry as Jenna is. In fact, even when Jenna retires, she'll probably still be porn's most popular performer for a few more years...
This was interesting, because this was just discussed in another forum I was reading. Everyone has there favorite porn stars, but from a marketing view Tera Patrick is the #2 lady in porn.
There are reasons for this. marketing. Jenna Jameson and both Tera Patrick know how to limit themselves. In regards to doing porn and how they are interviewed. Especially, when you see either of them interviewed, neither one comes across over the top. In fact, they ae both very articulate and not over the top. If Tera marketed herself a little better, she in fact would probably be neck and neck with Jenna Jameson.
Jesse Jane comes across kinda silly and out of it when interviewed on Stern. Kinda like Tabitha Stevens. I really have not thought of a #3 girl, but I really don't think its Jesse Jane and after Jenna leaves it won't be her either imo. Though she is hosting the avn awards.
Jenna Jameson and Tera Patrick are smarth people, but they both have good people working for them as well, I'm sure.
She probably will be the next Jenna as Jenna is basically a grandma in porn mileage, at least in looks she certainly is. Tera, her glory days are long over. Although I'm not a big Jesse Jane fan, she certainly has the looks that seem to attract most porn fans. Although, Jesse sounded silly in her Virtual DVD, I have to admit she looked pretty damn good.

Jesse Jane is the Queen! The energy she put into her scenes in Pirates and the little acting she did on HBO's Entourage proved to me that she is worthy of the Throne! Now if she'd only dive into the "No Holes Barred" gonzo arena, then she'd be the perfect pornstar. As far as looks go, she just might be the HOTTEST ever!
That's right. She left Digital Playground too early in her career. After the whole "Virtual Sex"-"Forbidden Tales"-"Island Fever"-mania everybody told her that she's the next Jenna. The problem is, in the end she believed that she IS the next Jenna, left DP and formed her own company. And the sales of her DVDs decrease constantly.
Jenna didn't become Jenna overnight. She put years and years of hard work into her career. Two or three bestselling DVDs don't make anyone the next Jenna.
As far as Jesse is concerned. I like her looks and her performances. But its much too early to decide if she's the next Jenna.
Probably there won't be any über-pornstar again. The biz has changed a lot. The turn-over accelerated. There is less time for a girl to grow into the role of a star.

Jesse Jane is probably the most energetic performer in the biz right now, and I like her (after my 4 day internet porn fast, she was the first pornstar I jacked off to) but as for her taking over the throne? I'm with the majority here, I don't see her making the cut.

Yes, and the way porn is becoming so subdivided into different genres and sub-genres like teen or mature/MILFs, or features with plots or gonzo, or girl on girl or gang bangs, it is sometimes possible that even if a performer does stay in the biz for several years instead of several months or weeks, she could still become a superstar to fans of one or two or three genres, but for fans of other genres to have just heard of their name but to have never seen them in a scene. I think Jenna J got where she is not only by her looks and business and marketing instincts, but also by pure dumb luck to have began her career at the time that she did.
will all do respect you just stated clearly part of gentleman's Jon's point. Yes, Jenna has good looks, and yes she knows how to market herself. but some of it is luck. And that goes in any element of show business. But most people in showbiz be it news anchors/actors/singers often say that there is an element of luck involved. Its not bad or good. It is what it is.
I don't deny the importance of the element of luck. I just didn't like "pure dumb luck". Perhaps that's my problem as a non-native speaker. But to me this sounds as if her whole career was solely built on luck.
Jesse does seem like she's heading somewhere big. I heard she's feature dancing now too so that's another avenue she's visiting. Not sure if anyone will ever take the Jenna throne but Jesse's definitely creating a huge explosion into a star if she plays her cards right. Having a role on an Entourage episode was really big for her.
Tera Patrick was only that popular because of DP's successful marketing. From the last photo I've seen of her, she looks nothing as hot as used to be. In fact, she gained a bit too much weight for my taste. Not the kind of weight that's proportional either.
I meant it with all respect to Jenna. She is pretty, and she does know how to market herself and make money. When she became the superstar, she exhibited business and self-promotion skills that her contemporaries did not. That's why she became the superstar of porn that people who never watch porn have heard of, while her contemporaries, however beautiful they may been, earned themselves some loyal fans but not the superstardom across the board that Jenna received. But my point was that since the porn market is even more divided into niches now than when Jenna started, and there are so many different companies, it makes it even more difficult for a performer to become the porn superstar by herself. I guess I shouldn't say there will absolutely never be another single superstar, but I think there will more often be a top tier shared by several girls at any one time instead of one superstar. Sorry about some of the sentences in this post and my last post. It's the end of my work week and I am tired. That's why I write those long sentences and have had trouble keeping my tenses consistent.
I kind of take back what I say. I think the key is hiring the right people(and maybe she is?) If Jesse Jane can hire good people, her star could really rise. Jenna Jameson is WAY far from dumb, but hiring smart people is good too.
Hosting the AVN is a good move on Jesse Jane's part, featuring dancing is also a good move. I have also seen her in "Stuff" magazine And going on Howard Stern is also a good move. I think she should tone done herself down a little when on Howard a little, imo. Although, I have only heard her interviewed one or 2 times.
The key is not to be all over the place. Jenna Jameson seems to know how to handle herself. Very articulate. Tera Patrick may have ruined things a little because she pulled out of dp to early. But she is still marketing herself well, imo. Doing "stuff" magazine, and still making appearances on Howard and going on shows like celebrity justice. She is also very articulate.
Another reason why Jenna was successful was Howard did a good job of promoting her and having her in private parts. When you are a porn star there isn't really too much bad pr.
Maybe in the "mainstream" world's view of porn she might be as she is the one everyone might know of after Jenna but I just don't see her approaching Jenna's level of popularity.
Jesse is a beautiful woman and just fantastic on screen but I never got the impression that she was as goal oriented or driven as Jenna became. She does have Digital behind her and their PR department is one of the best in the business so you never now. She is probably close to Tera in terms of mainstream exposure.
Having met them both I personally would put Jesse above Tera on the list but you know what they say about opinions.
Jesse Jane is one of my favorites stars of the last few years. And while she may have some degree of crossover into the mainstream, I wouldn't say she's will reach the same heights that Jenna has. Not a slight against Jesse, I just agree with what has already been said about Jenna - right person, right place, right time.
Based on the interviews on Howard Stern, I think Jesse sounds fun. In my opinion, Tera sounds fake, like she's putting on the image of "the next Jenna Jameson." I thought Tera sounded more down to earth and easier to relate to in the behind the scenes features from the Island Fever DVD's.
I know Pirates is a recent release, but I would like to see Jesse get back to doing more features or gonzo work. Before Pirates, her last 4 or 5 DVD's were Celeste's films for Digital Playground. Now, I like Celeste's dreamy, pretty, stylish porn, but I want to see Jesse in more than just that one style of film.
From her posts on ADT I get the feeling she sees her future more behind the camera than in front of.

Jenna Jameson took porn mainstream by becoming a regular guest on Howard Stern. Once people saw that she could look pretty and hold an intelligent conversation at the same time, it took off from there. Jenna also has a certain vulnerability when she's interviewed that makes you like her; she comes as sweet and shy, you just want to step in and protect her. Tera Patrick is very boring when interviewed. Jesse Jane is likeable in the same way that most people like chocolate; no one is going to hate a gorgeous blonde girl who seems agreeable. To me, this all proves that it takes more than just 'pretty' to be a star. Their has to be a certain something extra and Jenna has it (intelligence and articulateness).
Its hard to remember hearing some of the interviews with Stern, but when I did hear Tera interviewed, she did come off a little snobby. Jenna Jameson is more articulate then most human beings in general. Jenna Jameson also came up with a porn name that sounds cool, as well. I like Tabitha Stevens, she has a fun personality, but I don't know how marketable she is. I really don't know too much about porn, but she seems to lets herself be a little too "vunerable"
Maybe what I was thinking that is that I don't think Jesse Jane has to be snobby to become more popular, but a little more business like and fun at the same time.
Just like in any profession, there are mean people. I think there are porn stars who could of become much "bigger names" if they came across as nicer people.
I agree with both CJ & Juha but in different ways.
I think that she has a better chance than Jesse to become the well known "porn star" to the generic mainstream world that doesn't follow (or even watch) porn. She recently had a part in The 40 Year Old Virgin (I haven't seen it yet so I can't say anything about the acting) & even has one of the extra featurettes on the dvd devoted to her. This kind of mainstream crossover can only help her become the next name "Jenna" that many people recognize.
From what I've seen/heard, her behind the camera work is quite good as well. Long term security may lie in, once the contract is over, setting up a production company etc. etc. etc.
The key thing to me though is that she is rising to the top in the genre that is more likely to be accepted by mainstream/non fan audiences (feature/comedy/couples). Joe Average is much more likely to be willing to rent (at a brick & mortar) Pirates (yes I know, Jesse was in that, did a good job too) than Anal Gapes 43 when there is a chance that he will run into someone else from the PTA while renting it.
If porn (movies) can ever get to the point where Playboy was decades ago (claiming to buy it for the articles ) where people are justify renting the movies for the plot ("Hey, there is sex in this movie. I'm shocked I tell you, shocked ...... ). If it ever gets to that point, it wouldn't surprise me to see Stormy a big force in making it happen.
I also like Jesse very much - and I also tend to compare her with the other JJ. Both are blonde, pretty, have big boobs (ok, Jenna's are still bigger) and their name is JJ. But it's very unlikely there will be a "new Jenna" in the next years. As it was said before, Jenna was at the right time at the right place.
jesse could be in the top 5 i feel she may be there already not sure she could be number one in the busissness there are some true contenders when jenna decides to hang it up
Jesse is one of the most beautiful women -- no doubt. But she has no natural slut energy. Sadly, just not a dynamic performer...I'd rather look at stills of her. That way I will never be let down. :)
I first saw Jesse on Family Business and fell in love with her immediately. She is so sexy-I have most of her movies now. I hope she hits the mainstream in 2006.

Agreed. Those beautiful eyes and luscious lips won me over immediately. I still don't know if Seymour (Adam) ever 'closed the deal' on Jesse. He seemed pretty smitten albeit awkward with her.
