I just watched it. After she said her name was Cindy, and that she worked at Hooters, she said she was on the cover of the magazine. They quickly flashed the cover of "Lingerie" magazine that had her picture and Jesse Jane written on the cover. Something tells me Jay knew.
She told Leno she was a Hooter's girl named Cindy and 30 seconds later they showed a magazine cover of hers where it said "Jesse Jane " in big letters. So yes the producers knew who she was. I agree that she didn't look too smart.
It's because of dumb segments like this that I never watch Leno. I only watched tonight because I read here that Jesse would appear.

Sounds like a set up to me. In all probability JL did not randomly cross paths with JJ but the Tonight show spot was prearranged by Jesse or someone representing her. I would further guess that it was even scripted. Network TV is perhaps the only medium that is less spontaneous and more phony than porn.
Maybe Cody Bangs wants to credit for another DP marketing coup?
Jay asked her what was the motto of the state of New Hampshire. He gave her a hint by saying it's "Live blank or die". The answer is "Live free or die". Not everybody knows that, it's ok that she didn't know it. But 30 seconds later he asked her which state has the motto "Live free or die". He said it was to test her retention. She had no clue so she guessed Missouri. She then asked Jay if she would be "the blonde" on the show. Jay answered "so far yes".
