To correlate with the thread on Jewish women in porn, I thought I would ask about Jewish guys in porn.
I found this comment from Ron Jeremy the other day which seems to say that there are not many Jewish women in porn, but that the reverse is true for men:
"I'm Jewish, and there are very few Jewish girls in the business. There are a lot of Jewish guys. A LOT of Jewish guys."
Other than Ron Jeremy who is the most famous, which other guys in porn are Jewish.? Ron makes it sound like every other guy in porn is Jewish! I know there is Herschel Savage, Randy West and Seymour Butts, but who are the others? I am also curious since my boyfriend is Jewish, and I talked with him about this the other day after reading that, and asked him why so many Jewish guys end up in porn. They seem to be more into it then the women according to Ron too.
The only guy I can think of that wasn't mentioned is Steve Drake, the very popular performer of 20 years. He always seemed to push the limit in his scenes and it's too bad because I think he's retired. It would be fun to see him in some of the hardcore, rougher stuff put out now. He's really handsome too. I think maybe what Ron Jeremy meant was not so much that there is a large quantity of Jewish male porn stars but, instead, that the ones out there seem to be better money makers & are more well known. I mean just take the guys you mentioned ... Herschel Savage (still sexy @ 51 with no immediate plans to retire and performing since 1975). Randy West, who's been in the business since the early '80s, and Seymore Butts consistently produce highly profitable films so they are obviously better well known. I think Jewish men are really hot too. To be honest, I had no idea that Randy West and Ron Jeremy were Jewish until I read your post ;-)
Jerry Butler is Jewish. He writes about his life in porn and outside of it in RAW TALENT. It's an interesting read. (The prose ain't Shakespeare, but there are some passably amusing anecdotes.)
Yes, Ron Jeremy is the most famous Jewish guy in porn. I saw the biography of him "The Legend of Ron Jeremy" late one night in Montreal when I was there this summer. It talks about his early life and how he got into porn. I guess his family like his father and sister are pretty accepting of him as long as he is successful since they are interviewed as well. I am planning to ask my Jewish bf if someone is still considered a "nice Jewish boy" even if he goes into porn!
Nice Jewish Boy is yenta code for a man who isn't a drunk, won't cheat on you, won't beat you, and will provide an economically stable home life. (Unlike those exotic, exciting Italian and Irish boys) Can a pornstar be an NJB? I suppose that depends on your definition of fidelity.
Actually, there was a period in porn, during the 1970's when Jeremy began in the industry, where nearly every other guy in the business was Jewish. Perhaps that is what Ron is refering to in the quote you read, CG. Examples, besides those already posted, include Jaime Gillis, Harry Reems, Paul Thomas, R. Bolla, Marc Stevens, Ashley Moore, Jeffrey Hurst, John Seeman, Bobby Astyr, William Margold, etc. Later on we had, besides Butler, guys like Buck Adams, Marc Wallice, and (I think) Robert Bullock. Oh, yeah. And Ed Powers.

It could be that more Jews found their way into the industry because of more liberal backgrounds. Also, porn in the seventies was more about making movies with sex in them and a lot of the first performers were aspiring actors, filmmakers and photographers. By the way, if Buck Adams is Jewish, that means Amber Lynn goes on the list of women.

I've heard him list the Jewish women in porn that he knows of and he is certainly unaware of a lot.He does, but it's not true. He once claimed there was a "study" done on how many men in porn are Jewish. There was no "study."
So who are the modern Jewish guys in porn these days besides James Deen? IAFD says Mr. Pete is Italian/Jewish. Michael Vegas seems to talk a lot about Jews on twitter. Is he Jewish? I think Ron Jeremy was probably thinking of back when he started, in the 70s a lot of the male performers were Jewish but I don't think that has been true for decades now.
