Why the big differences? Well, selling porn by mail is still illegal in the UK (our main market) and we have to jump through a lot of hoops to do discreet UK dispatch. In NL we just put them in an envelope and send them away ourselves.

Btw, on xodvds.com there are 6 volumes of JIM SLIP'S U.K. STREETSLUTS but you only sell the first 3 volumes. Are you gonna sell the other 3 volumes also? I especially want volume 5 because it has both Ashley and Angel Long in it.

The issues of principle to be determined in this case were:

whether a licensed sex shop can supply R18 videos by way of mail order or telephone order or whether supply can only be made to a person physically present in the licensed sex shop,

whether a licensed sex shop may offer to supply R18 videos by way of mail order or telephone order.

Interfact Ltd lost the case. The judge agreed with the prosecution that the word "supply" is wider than "sale" so all the 'for' arguments were dismissed.

The net effect is:

There can be no mail order R18's from licensed sex shops, the only places where R18 films can legally be sold.

There can be no offer to supply mail order R18's (in or out of the country)

Pabo have German directors and supply from Holland and hence the supply side seems totally legal. Point 2 above is therefore crucial in that Liverpool Trading Substandards seem to be contending that although the supply is perfectly legal then they are still not allowed to offer to supply by way of mail order or telephone order.

It is also reported on the melonfarmers site that recently in Barnsley (North of England) and following advice from the police, that a naked garden gnome had to be fitted with a bikini. Haha! What a country!

As for distribution, R18 films are hardcore but may be cut if there is fisting, watersports, choking, lack of consent. They may be sold only at licensed sex shops but they may not be distributed from those shops by mail order. And you cannot telephone orders. To buy R18s you must present yourself in person. Not easy for those living outside large cities.

Regulation or censorship? Not sure if I can spot the difference.

Shooting porn is legal in the UK, selling unrated movies (any movie, porn or not) is not. There is the (in)famous R18 rating, which does not allow a lot of things, but that doesn't mean that no other porn is shot in the UK. We shoot our movies in the UK, but we are based in NL and do all the post-production there. And since we are a Dutch company we obey Dutch laws.

And if you think there is no good porn made in the UK, look at the movies Ramsey mentioned, or have a look around at the BGAFD, which lists currently 9419 movies and 1968 actresses, all British.

Jim Slip's titles are unrated BTW.

Ramsey: VHS is plain old videotapes, a lot of our customers haven't moved to DVD yet, so we still sell a lot of tapes. And we like to buy the rights for those titles, so we can do our own duplication and be assured the quality of the tapes is up to our standards.

And yes, we are bloody experts when it comes to Britporn and Britcensorship
