Ponce directed "Faust the Power of Sex". Never seen his previous Spanish movies but he has a very good reputation and some critics rave about him. Anyone seen his movies? Is it a worthwhile addition to the pool of Private directing talents (now that they've lost Woodman and Thring)? [Link]

Search the forum archives, as there was a discussion of the movie when the VHS was new a few months ago. I think the movie would appeal to those who enjoy Kovi's face paint "fetish" line of movies. I don't like this whole couples-appeal trip Private is taking with directors like Kovi, Adamo, Ninn an now Ponce. Thank god they still have Castel but I think they should give him another serie to direct besides the Xtreme serie. Maybe bring back the Matador serie or create a whole new serie where the girl is like being interviewed and then the sex starts with Castel and his buddies (I hope he can bring back J.P. Armand). But, from what I've read about Faust, I'm not sure that it really is much like Kovi's Pirate DVDs. [Link]

Faust is, as I said, very "artistic." It doesn't have hot sweaty sex, or even raunchy sex, it is more about the costumes and set designs. Those, and some choeograpgy, are the focus of the movie, with the sex more stylized as part of an overall presentation, instead of being the center of it all. So anyone who tries to watch Faust simply to see sex may well be disappointed, but those seeking some artistic expression (which I'm not looking for in porn) will probably like the movie quite a bit.
