If Joanna's not in the Hall of Fame, they need to do so this coming January. Joanna's performances in "Firestorm" and "The Devil & Miss Jones 2" alone qualify her for induction.
The other Major Oversight/non inductee into the Hall of Fame is Jamie Summers, The Brat. Jamie was the first pornstar to have a series build around her, the first "Star" contract girl--in fact, the first Vivid Girl (Ginger Lynn doesn't count, she was part owner).
The only explanation is that AVN's owners/editors must have a personal dislike for Joanna & Jamie. I seem to remember Jamie not granting AVN some interviews, or coverage, at an early CES. This could be the reason in her case. [Link] |

Jamie not in the same league as Joanna IMHO. Didn't Jamie work predominantly in Vivid shot on video? also Jamie did movies with Jeff Stryker who also did gay porn. Have to admit I didn't see a lot of Jamie's work so I can't really completely rate her but what I saw was 'so-so'. Yes , she's not in the same league as the great Joanna.[Link] |

Here we go bumping an old thread again - but a quick update here:
Joanna was inducted into the somewhat less prestigious (I suppose) XRCO Hall of Fame in 2009 - unknown if her comeback as a milf - the same year - was a factor.
I absolutely second the motion here - induction to AVN Hall of Fame is long overdue for Joanna. 100+ films in the golden age definitely qualifies her - and the "pioneers" from the late 70's/early 80's definitely deserve extra recognition.[Link] |
