I've been a big fan of John Leslie's gonzo series over the years, but tend to feel that they aren't quite as hot as they used to be.

I used to look forward to each new Fresh Meat and Voyeur release, but I find the quality much more variable now. Any opinions?

Also does anyone know if the Fresh Meat and The Voyeur series were originally supposed to have different emphases?

Nowadays I find them quite difficult to tell apart, but did feel that some of the earlier Fresh Meat was maybe slightly more fetish orientated.

I agree. I think the ones made from about 1997-2000 were all incredibly erotic and had beautiful girls who were always well photographed and looking their best. I think I liked them because they featured natural European girls; he seems to be doing most of his filming in the States with local actresses now, which to me is almost a letdown compared to the European girls and locales of the earlier movies.

Fresh Meat 17 and Voyeur 25 and 26 have lots of European girls, especially Michelle Wild.
Not to mention Crack Her Jack with Michelle Wild.

I think that Fresh Meat and The Voyeur have had renewed vigor, especially since Fresh Meat 17 and Voyeur 24.

Perhaps John's gotten mild over the years? 'Cause i do agree that a few of his more recent releases -especially Crack Her Jack- are less rough than i'm used to see. It seems as if he's having doubts on how to shoot scenes. He walks around the couples, not really zooming in or keeping focused on what we'd like to see, completely draining all the energy out of the action. On the other hand it might be that he's working on a new style? I don't know but i sure do hope that John will soon pick up his 'old skool' techniques again!

I've never had a problem with the girls he chooses, at least most of the time. But, his shooting style has started to bug me because I think he tries to be too artistic at the expense of making good porn, and mainly what I'm talking about is the incessant, overbearing use of natural light in all of his scenes! I get it already that it's cool looking when a pretty girl is sucking a dick and the sun is in the background silhouetting her in profile. But does he have to do this every single time? I don't mind that sort of thing now and again, but it gets to the point where there's so much glare I can't even tell what's going on in the scene. I think sometimes that what he's trying to do is use the light as additional participant in the scene, which is very artistic and all that, but my feeling is that light should be used in a complimentary manner, not a participatory one.
