I also got to meet John a few times and he seemed like a stand up guy so it really saddens me to hear of this and I'm so sorry for his little girl, that's the real shame that in this life neither will really get to know the other.

I can honestly say that as a kid growing up, back when I first really started watching adult films, I could only put a name to the face of 4 or 5 male performers. Jon Dough was one of those people.

What really stood out for me was that he had some pretty solid acting chops, and films at that time were heavy on the plot/story lines, so you noticed these things.... It also wasn't lost on me that he always turned out a solid scene, treated his on camera partners with respect, and that he seemed to be real people...a man's man... (kinda like the sentiments Randy Spears expressed.)

It just sucks hearing anything like this about anyone... My heart aches for Jon's fans, but even moreso for CHET'S family and friends. I can relate to what you are all feeling and I have sadly been there more than once. Please do not beat yourselves up over the "wouldas", "couldas", and "shouldas"... hindsight is always 20/20.

R.I.P- may you find the peace elsewhere that eluded you on this level of existence.

I hadn't heard until now that Jon Dough was dead, but I can't say that I am surprised. I remember seeing him on a Britsh TV show years ago where the host had come to California and joined the porn industry to see what it was like. During one part of the show, the host was sitting with Jon and asking him about how he ended up doing porn. I don't remember Jon's exact responses, but I do remember that he came across as someone that was not really happy with where he was.

Whatever his problems were, it is too bad that he did not get the chance to solve them.

R.I.P.

I first met Chad when he came to the Barcelona convention, that was 12 years ago, he looked like a god to me, huge star. He talked to me just like a friend, I never forget that, with the time I worked with him in LA and more of the same he was a super nice guy, a great lost, take care wherever you are.
Cheers to you.

Jon Dough was MY first crush in porn and I've only had a couple. A week may not go by that I don't think of his double strands.....And that's w out popping him in the DVD player for nearly a few years. That's quite an impression? His apparent vulnerability and excellent work as a cocksmen made for a special dichotomy.
He did later blossom as a director and start what are now fetishes and often copied. I saw my first double vaginal on one of his "unnatural sex " tapes. He just slipped it in one scene. Now it's so very common place. The photographer and writer Ian Gittler proved Jon Dough to be worthy of the center of attention within his well reviewed book, 'PORNSTAR." Jon's revealing interviews shook Gittler to his core and frankly scared him. Depression is the real Killer not drugs.

I will continue to think of you. ALways a top Stud in my memory. I hope you found peace.

Louis Theroux? Saw that one also. I remember Dough was driving a very cool chopper but he was indeed very depressed.

Personally I don't understand it, I mean I'm not sure what was going on in his personal life but it had to be very serious because most of us would kill to be a male pornstar, I mean it's without a doubt THE best job in the world for a man so why end it?

Tom:

I suspect your intentions are admirable, however, we need to remember what the second "A" in AA stands for: ANONYMOUS. Even in death, the anonymity of AA members should be respected. The same with AA members who are still living. If you should see me at a 12 -step meeting, I would want my anonymity guarded. The AA traditions suggest that members should even guard their own anonymity at the public level.

I had the chance to talk with Jon a few times over theyears. he was a nice guy to chat with. I wouldn't say I knew him very well, but it still kills me inside to hear about this. My sympathy goes out to his lovely wife and daughter. Jon was one of those guys I enjoyed watching in his scenes. He always put on good show, and seemed to enjoy what he was doing. Anyway...R.I.P. Chet (Jon)....you will be greatly missed

The superficial appeal doesn't make for lasting fulfilment? I don't know either, and won't pretend to proffer particular insight. I am just really sad that one of the guys that you thought was one of those indestructible fixtures on the scene (like Ron Jeremy or Tom Byron), that would always be there from 80's mullet to 2000's skinhead, is no longer with us. Very sad news.

Another brilliant move by Mr.Zupko.

And whats with the essay. Its nice that you show that you are sad that he is gone and respected him all, but do you think anyone will read your letter knowing that you said you didn't really know him personally?

I notice many retired porn stars work in various aspects of the industry when they stop performing. I was wondering if any porn company would consider offering a job to Monique DeMoan. Jon Dough worked for just about every porn company in his days as a performer. I think a porn company or porn companies should reach out to Monique Demoan who needs some help in a big way. I believe she has a young daughter to raise.

Yes its tragic. I dont debate that. Im just saying I dont follow porn names enough that Jon dough means anything to me. I apologize for going slightly off the topic. I remember it was somewhat shocking to me when Penthouse pet leslie glass died from cancer at age 36. She was definitely one gorgeous broad. Unfortunately her limited porn titles were done in the days before the explosion of the so-called gonzo porn genre. But I tell you this: the Penthouse issues of the mid to late 1990s had some friggin scorching pictorials. There was one with Leslie dressed as an american indian: that was like a hot porn movie on pause. She took that dick in every holes, and then she took a load on her. Im not saying leslie was defined soley by her porn work, but her porn work is what we the public knew her from. So it was a shock when she passed. She did another penthouse shoot with Gina Lamarca. Oh man, Leslie Glass and Gina Lamarca looked good together. Penthouse was good all the way up until december 2004. that was the last of the dirty years under guccione. then some asshole bought the magazine with some ludicrous mission to clean it up. Bob Guccione wasted his fortune trying to sink a financially sinking ship. somehow Larry Flynt always made money. I never like hustler though. When penthouse got really dirty, It was better than hustler.

Could Jon Dough, and can other pornstars who are so very famous, especially those into rough scenes like Brandon Iron, walk around freely in the streets? (I would think they must have enemies and risk running into violence, with all mobs and madmen around.) Or do they ride in black-glassed limousines from their doorstep, and have guards at the house? Can they afford that?

There must be billions and billions of dollars in the porn industry, but who makes the money? Jon Dough was a top name in the industry and also did his own movies, and still, judging from posts above he didn't have much money.

There is the leftwing feminist antiporn and aggressive antiglobal movement (although it may not be as prominent in California as in Europe and Canada. On the other hand the size of protests might be compensated by that American porn is much more brutal and aggressive than European porn.) There are extreme Christian religious groups. There are thugs from mafia mobs and organized crime groups who compete for pussy and may want to take over potential market space. Also rapists and child molesters have the lowest status in the community and among other criminals in jails, and when the porn movies' titles and subject often focus on tricking, luring and abusing girls who appear as young as possible, it is not farfetched that the male porn performers should be potential targets.

Someone truly in the know, educate me. As noted in another's remark, there are BILLIONS of dollars changing hands in the porn industry. Can it be that a performer of Jon's magnitude did not earn enough to cover his own funeral expenses? I thought, given his years in front of and behind the camera, he would have been handsomely compensated by now.

Where does all the money go, to the producers and distributors, et al.? And does this mean that guys like North and Lex aren't making bank either?

I know most would like to have the jobs of the male stars, thinking they've got the world by the tail. But after all is said and done, maybe they don't.

You know they brought up the topic of, who the top dogs who were raking in the cash in the blue biz in one of those Diane Sawyer specials. And apparently she found out that the biggest companies raking in top dollar, are the telecommunications companies. Also that big hotel chain, I can't think of the name right now. And some guy she called Rupert Murdock. She also mentiond the GE company.

Alot of the revenue comes in when they show porn in the hotel rooms. She also said something about there being no porn star union. So everything is unregulated. And the big companies ( not the porn companies ) but the so called family friendly companies are the ones who like it like that.

I think it was Primetime Live. On a side note, Wal-Mart is anti porn. And they invest heavily into this right wing religious group, who's soul mission is to eradicate porn in all it's forms from the face of the earth. So if you like porn do not shop at Wal-Mart unless it's an emergency, and you need Kleenex or something.

But the anomally to some porn stars having no money and others who do, the answer is Ron Jeremy.

Ron Jeremy has been in there since like forever. And he's got money. Plenty of money.

I wish Ron Jeremy would post on here, and shed some light on this subject.

But back to topic, Jon Dough you will surely be missed.

Also some of Jons last work was for Voyeur Media. I hope Vince Voyeur posts on here to shed some light on Jon Doughs final days leading up to the tragic event.

I recently saw Ron Jeremy in a DVD sales ad where he is trying to trick the viewer into buying "Extenza", pills that will extend the size of the penis by inches. Perhaps he means that it will grow by inches when it goes from soft to hard? But he doesn't say that. Not very honest. Quite awful actually.

Those who make plenty of money, are usually those who go after it, with or without conscience.
