First off, I am not a hater, as I belonged to Jules site for years, and own tons of his movies. He has gotten alot of my money. Although his stuff is not scorching like it used to be, he puts out a high quality product.
One complaint about Jules, is that I PERCEIVE that he doesn't really give a shit about his fans in alot of respects. Whether it is lack up updates on his site, or letting people know what's coming next. I am sure he is busy with his new company and that takes alot of time. Don't get me wrong, I am sure he appreciates them, but he doesn't take a hands on approach like Evil Angel and others.
He seems to have a big ego and also seems to get real defensive when anyone questions/critizes him on this board.
Starting and running your own company is a HUGE undertaking. Most people have no idea all that it entails. And knowing Jules attention to detail and pusuit of excellence, he IS probably "hands on" involved with every facet of the process.
This takes a LOT of time to oversee everything and there is a million things that can go wrong.
Sure Evil Angel runs smooth but Evil Angel has been in existance for 17 years!
Jules hasn't even been up and going for 17 months!
I agree with Jake. Jules Jordan Video is still a new company. It's still a small company. But it's growing quickly. I'm sure that Jules has a whole lot more work on his plate than he did while part of Evil Angel. Just look at the release schedule of Jules' own titles over the last year. What's he been averaging, one new release every two months or so? That's half of what he was putting out with Evil Angel.
I'm sure that the lack of current trailers on his website is far from the top of his current priority list.

Working with Jules while he was at EA, I always got the impression that he was anything BUT lazy. He was always on top of telling the internet dept to get trailers up and stuff like that.
I'm sure that dealing with organizing 2 or 3 directors is very overwhelming.
i think its extremely important to have a current website at all times and not let the fans find out about future releases through AVN magazine ads or retail websites...
First, you don't maintain the quality Jules is able to being lazy. Even people who are gifted (be it with porn as Jules is, athletes, whatever) have to hone their gift a little so they don't lost it. There's also "Good Competition" versus "Bad Competition". "Good Competition" keeps you on your toes, and when somebody questions your "good competition" you often give them credit (as his competitors Tricia and Jake have here). I can't think of a single time when I've seen lazy "Good Competition".
Going back on some of what others have said, I think it's more a case of being overwhelmed than anything with how much more he has to do. He's been on his own just over 6 months IIRC, and I think things may have grown much faster than he expected. Not caring for his fans? If that was the case I doubt he'd give this board the time of day instead of showing up in threads here and there which are about him. I think that what's being thought of as lack of caring is more a case of him being very confident at doing what he does. Jules rose through the industry to get to where he is today, and I think probably had a better grasp at the industry as a whole and what it takes to run a company than most others who try.

Everything I've read about Jules, here and elsewhere, strikes down the notion that he is lazy. He is obviously a perfectionist at what he does.
That said, I think it's perfectly legitimate to criticize him for other things, such as a tad bit of arrogance towards fans and defensiveness when anyone questions or criticizes what he is doing. While I seriously doubt that he intends to come across that way in his communications, he does at time do so. At least that's been my observation over the years, and judging from his post, KH feels the same way.
On a side note: I agree that we need to give him some slack right now on the trailers, release dates, etc., while he is still trying to get his company up and running.
Jenna H mentioned at a signing in Kansas City that both she and Jules will have new websites webmastered by new people sometime next year. In the meantime, all of Jules' websites should be considered strictly temporary, and as such, it is somewhat understandable that temporary websites are not updated as regularly as a more permanent site would.
As for Jules' personality, I've never met the guy.

Hmm, all the more reason to J.B.I...JUST BUY IT (or, at least rent it)!! Too many people want to spend nothing...Secondly, do you think JJ sits in front of his PC and updates the page on his own? People in his position employ a webmaster or company to take care of such things. It's not exactly an industry (web design) where alot of credability & trust can be placed to do the right thing.
Personally, I do not believe that Jules is lazy. If you have followed his career from the beginning you would know that the man is very detailed-oriented and is pretty much the perfectionist that many people within this thread have mentioned. I fully understand that he has a lot on his plate at the moment in terms of his new company; however, there is merit in the statement that Jules is not up-to-date with giving the consumers a quick update on his new releases. I'm just speculating, but if Jules has hired employees now, he should have some sort of help in regard to programming and updating his website. If he is the only one doing this then its a problem because one man should not try to do everything. Yes, Jules has a lot on his plate right now, but the consumer should not be made to feel inferior in any form. If I was in Jules situation, I would hire someone to control the trailer section of the website (if he already doesn't) and make sure that it's up in advance, even if the film might be pushed back to a later date. Knowing many of us anyway, we would buy his product regardless, lol!

Jules and lazy in the same sentence is ludicrous. End of.
A better question is why he doesn't allow you to download and save his trailers. For some of us, that makes all the difference as to whether you pick up a title or not. Sad as I am to admit it, I am susceptible to buying a title I may not have otherwise initially put down as a must-buy simply by watching the trailer over and over again and getting hooked. Not having easy access to a private computer to watch trailers makes it tricky, so being able to say, download Evil Angel trailers and whack them onto a thumb drive to watch later is always handy.
I realise most porn fans aren't in my situation, but why wouldn't a porn company president authorise trailers to be downloadable? A trailer is a far cry from the film, no susbtitute for the finished product, and surely no one would get upset if trailers made their way round peer-to-peer sites. I don't get why it would be an issue.
Here's a personal stat for you: Rocco doesn't always get trailers up for his releases at EA. I don't own any films he's released this year that don't have a trailer. I don't own every film that has a trailer mind you, because I may not have liked what I saw in the trailer. That said, if I see it and like it, it's a buy.
Haven't bought a single disc from JJV because I haven't had the chance to see one of their trailers yet. I understand he has trailers as extras on his releases. Maybe I can solve my problem and just take a risk on one and watch the trailers on that.
First off, we still only have a temporary website at this point I have to outsource all of my web work, we do not have an internet staff here yet. We pull the trailers off of the first run of DVDS that we get in. Sometimes we do not have the dvds until a few days before street date in some cases, thus the lack of a trailer before street date. We will certainly have trailers and photo gallerys up on the site before the street date in the near future. When at EA I am the one that really pushed for trailers being used on the site for promotion, and as far as my interraction here at ADT, I was also one of the first adult directors to participate in discussion on this site, I would much rather have fans discuss than me step in and shameless promote. I have also noticed a trend of "calling out" industry insiders, with negativity. Porn Scout, when you get threads such as the topic of this one: lazy, you would tend to come across as defensive too. The same instigators always come out to jump on a negative topic, even an occasional hater such as DAC.
Fortunately and unfortunately people want to know what I've shot before i've even shot it. Believe me I love using trailers, they will become a big part of the website, please just let me get the website in full working order first.

Jules - just a suggestion, but with all the moving parts you are dealing with, you might want to consider hiring a coordinator type. I don't know what that person would be called exactly, maybe project coordinator, or production coordinator - something like that. Anyway, I'm sure you get the idea.

I have watched some of Jules movies before and I didn't like them just as i don't like jonni darkko, van styles, david lord and the like directors, but I'll definitely be buying the new dvds Erik Everhard will put out through the label. Talking about ego, what about the huge logo that covers all JJV dvds? The idea for example of an Erik Everhard title with the name Jules Jordan gracing almost half of the cover is plain stupid. The same goes for mike john too.
Thanks for letting us know what's up with the website, Jules. One question, is there any chance of getting "Coming Soon" lists up on it with boxcover, cast list, and release dates? It seems odd to see that stuff in stores before we can see it on your site.

Ummm, it IS "Jules Jordan Video", named after the owner & person who created it, correct?
I wouldn't call that "half the cover" either. You need bi-focals.

But it is funny calling a production company after yourself. You didn't see Buttman call his company "John Stagliano Productions". Its like the directors now belong to Jules Jordan.
Ummm, yes, that's exactly what we see. John's production company is called "John Stagliano Productions". If you look at the names of the production companies of all of the Evil Angel directors, you will find "John Leslie Productions", "Rocco Siffredi Productions", "Joey Silvera Video", "Clark Euro Angel Video", "Nacho Vidal Productions", "Belladonna Entertainment", "Justin Slayer Productions", "Johnni Darkko Productions", "Manuel Ferrara Productions" and, since he still has one more title being released by Evil Angel, "Erik Everhard Productions".
I'd be willing to bet that, if any of the Evil Angel directors decided to follow Jules' footsteps and start their own distribution company, they would also continue to use the brand names that they have already built.
Man this is a war zone lol. Jules is the man. He might not update everyone all the time, but at least we know he has some fucking high quality shit coming out. He doesn't disappoint. At least to me he doesn't. He'll have the site up and running when its ready. I'm pretty sure you Gents(the ones complaining) can find something else better to do with your time other then sit at your comp. pressing the refresh button, awaiting trailers. The man's working on it. So let it be.

Strangely, it's actually not. I have NO idea which lower-level internet person added that to the Buttman logo, but I'll have it fixed ASAP. John has never used John Stagliano Productions as a name for his movies.
Not that there's anything wrong with directors who name their companies with their name. John does have John Stagliano Inc. which encompasses Evil Angel, Buttman Magazine, our internet company and the Fashionistas dance show, and basically all of John's business ventures.
I was initially going to use all of the other EA directors to make my point and was surprised to see the John Stagliano Productions. When I verified that it was on the Buttman site as well, I figured that I was safe assuming that it was correct.
