Does anyone know why most of straight porn today never use condoms and most Gay porn do use them??? I find that strange. Guess that's why I find watching straight porn's hot because you get to see a bare cock sliding in and out rather than a condom. Even though I'm gay.

Just a guess, but I suspect most gay porn producers made a commitment to show safer sex when the gay community was ravaged by AIDS.

Personally, I find it tough to watch a movie without them. Guess that's because I lost so many friends during the 80's to AIDS, and I equate non-condom scenes as disease transmission demonstrations rather than sexy.

The straight porn industry relies on testing as a prevention for disease, however there is as yet no standard for performers and studios to assure performers safety. The problem as I see it is not that the performers are going to transmit or aquire a disease, but eroticizing that inherantly unsafe behavior will encourage some folks to not take precautions.

Before anyone flames me for criticizing bareback sex, let me state that though having unsafe sex is a personal choice, the ramifications of it become everyones concern.

Stepping off my soapbox.

I always thought the reason the gay studios went to all condom porn had more to due with political reasons then because they actually cared if anyone got HIV.

Of course, that could just be my cynical side showing...

I don't know why they went condom only, but I do know that they do not test the performers for HIV (or other STDs), and the performers are told that it's a don't ask/don't tell situation.

The guys have told me that they just assume that anyone could have anything, and take it for granted that they will be using condoms.

I read a recent review of a model who has done a couple videos for a company that "specializes" in barebacking. He used a condom in his scenes (he was given a choice) and said that the company pays more if the models don't use one. Perhaps this is just the market at work (higher risk, higher cost), but I'm not sure I like this double standard.

Unfortunately, that studio features a number of models known to be HIV positive. Were I a male porn star, there is no way in heaven or hell that I would ever consider performing sans condom, regardless of the inducement.
