However, a letter arrived today indicating that could be about to change (for me). It states: Dear Sir / Madam: A letter / packet, consigned to the above addressee has been selected by Customs for routine examination. If you wish to be present, please contact the number below within seven days to arrange for a date and time of examination. The designated examination centre is Athlone Mail Centre, Athlone. In the absence of communication, Customs will proceed after seven days to examine the letter / packet in the presence of an An Post official. Sincerely, etc.,
(1) I'm not sure what's in the package -- although I think it could be two Traci Lords DVDs fro Ero.
Maybe, I ordered too many "packages" -- mainstream and adult DVDs, etc. and my "trafffic rate" has come back to haunt me. Who knows? Just thought, I'd relate my (next) worry to the forums here. Any cheering up would be appreciated. [Link] |

It's difficult to offer any useful advice without knowing how Irish Customs operate, but I would guess they're unlikely to impose any severe penalties if this is the first consignment they've grabbed. I mean, you're not exactly a serial offender and Customs are probably unaware of all the other DVDs you imported. My only slight concern is the Traci Lords issue, assuming that Customs know who she is. If I was in the same situation I'd welcome the opportunity to discuss the matter directly with them, rather than worry about the possible consequences later. A 200 mile round trip wouldn't appeal to me all that much though! Do Irish Customs have a website or any other information outlining their policies on adult material? I know the thieving scum at U.K. Customs have published some clearer guidelines, so at least we have a better understanding of our rights.
