Sadly I have only recently discovered Kami. Busy grabbing up what I can of hers.
Interesting thing about the interview, I love the part about the name. I always thought it sounded like "Kammy". But after reading the interview and seeing where it came from that is totally cool.
Anyway, keep up the awesome work. Love your stuff Kami!
SS: What's been your worst working experience? KA: When I know the dude doesn't like me
My mother told me a toothfairy comes at night and takes the teeth i put in my shoe under my bed and replaces it with money. I dont believe her anymore and im finding your comment hard to believe.
Yeah haha. I know about the history of Kami and all of that good stuff. Just did not put two and two together. I guess I expected a name like that would most likely not be used. Either way its very cool.
This exchange had me laughing aloud so much I had to share it with friends of mine:
SS: Is there a 'right' suitcase pimp? KA:Sure pick a small one you can escape from easily. Avoid ones that want to take you "…to where Charles Manson killed all those people" on a first date. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
You see, I am in the habit of driving around L.A. aimlessly looking at some of the more beautiful areas and/or houses. One day a friend and I happened upon a rather large mansion that was being renovated and being shown for sale. We walked all through it and found the house and the view in-fucking-credible! I didn't want to guess on how many millions it was selling for.
That night on the news there was some sort of retrospective about the Manson Murders in August of 1969 and they mentioned how one murder site had been torn down and the other (where Sharon Tate and Rosemary Labianca had been killed) had changed its address. They also mentioned that the house had been sold, rebuilt and sold again three times since the deaths - but that no one had ever moved in! ...they showed the view - then the house...it was the site we had just viewed!
More due to the beauty of the location and than its horrid history, I have returned to see if anyone ever bought the mansion three in the 3-4 years since then. Funny thing, everytime I visit, it is apparent that the house is in another metamorpahsis. I have seen it torn to the shell and (at least partially) redone three times now and no one has ever seemed to live in it! Now it is the curiosity of all this building and re-building without occupation that piques my interest and often makesme wonder if anyone has finally finished renovating and taken occupancy.
But I refuse to return - you see, I noticed that everytime I visited the location I would hear or see mention of it on the news or on the street within 24 hours of having been there! Coincidentally, I have visited on both the anniversary of the crimes on the day one of the women had a parole hearing. Considering how infrequently this topic is mentioned, I consider this too eery. The last time I was there, I returned home only to have the name Charles Manson pop up as the answer to a question on jeopardy ...it was then that I decided not to ever revisit this memoriam to the ugliness of man's unfettered soul.
Just for the heck of it, here is a pic of (part) of the place in one of its many incarnations. Try as we may, we could not get it all in one shot. Innocent enough to look at isn't it...
The house itself is on the precipice of a rather large steep hill. In order to accomadate the mandatory L.A. pool, they built it on a lot of land beside the house...and connected it to the house with a long shallow moat-like wading pool! Incredible!
andOH SHIT! Please tell me there wasn't anything too embarassing in there...should've just been a motlied assortement of photos of no real significance...gonna have to check it now!
LOL! Oh my gosh! Well, I'm glad that my absent mindedness entertained you all for so long - I definitely have to thank Kami for starting this parade!
Neetch, that pic is from a Asian Pacific Business Awards dinner. The woman on the far left is a local area newscaster I was rather fond of and the woman beside her is adult star Kobe Tai .
Kim is a friend...and yes thats my apt...no, thats not my neighborhood...my brother's dog (mine is the Golden).
3SB You really have to stop making me blush - and now I can't leave for work until this raging erection subsides! Oh, and yes - Kim & David are my favoritest couple!
and finally, Oatmeal , that is a photo of my dear love, Lacey DuValle ...used it to make an avatar.
Are we done with the tour through JAG 's not-so-private life?!
"corruptio optimi pessima "
edited to add how glad I am that I linked to this album, and not the other one...now that would've been REALLY embarrassing!!!! A porn forum is no place for nude photos!
Not at all, Kami ! Its actually qute funny! I often amuse myself with my absent mindedness...why not amuse others?! And after all the entertainment you have supplied me with your wonderful images - its the least I can do...but just don't hold your breath waiting for me to reciprocate! For the good of all involved (meaning YOU guys!) JAG's "private" pics shall remain "private" LOL!
and Mason : I will take that as a compliment and wish I had his style and way with the fairer sex...
I answer to both. I held off saying this but I didn't know how to pronounce it!!! thats the problem with living alone in an apartment everything I read sounds like it should in my head and its not till I have to talk to people that it goes awry.
one word "segue" huh who the hell makes this shit up?
"Commie ," huh? How funny to learn I have been mispronouncing the name everytime I scream it out in the heat of passion...no wonder that woman was upset with me!
and Kami , I know what you mean - the voices in my head are always wrong to...turns out they meant to say "Kill all those heathens ...not all those "breathing "
I think you must be luckier than I am, because I don't think a single month of my life has ever gone by without running across some sort of Manson family reference (internet, book, magazine, newspaper, radio, or TV). It used to really bother me, but then I just learned to live with it.
Trent Reznor lived in and recorded the Downward Spiral in the Cielo Drive house . I used to wonder why he would choose to live in such a place (it turns out that he didn't know that house's history at the time that he leased it.)
Well, its good to know that someone eventually lived there! The place is magnificent - if it weren't for its history. It would be easy to be ignorant of where you are - the address has ben changed for that very reason. Also, I believe I have heard that while the seller of a domicile is required by California law to divulge if a homicide or suicide has ocurred therein - the same is not true for someone leasing the same domicile.
I do not believe in "ghosts" per se, but I still doubt I could bring myself to live there...it is such a waste!
I believe in ghosts. Ivan's house is haunted. I won't go upstairs at night, and the place has only had one other family live there and no one dies there, yet it's haunted
I had to revive this thread because I found myself re-reading and enjoying the interview the other day. I have a friend who was on the fringes of the industry for awhile and has jumped in with both feet over the past year or so...I sent her the link to this interview because I think there's alot of very subtle, but very wise common sense about the industry mixed in with Kami's humor and glib responses.
Also, I have a question, Kamster...when is "Who let the Whores Out " due to drop?
