The name change has nothing to do with Digital Playground...
Katsumi was sued in France by a woman who had trademarked the name KATSUMI (in France) and the court found in that lady's favor. So Katsumi was legally (at least according to the French courts) required to change her name and stop using the name Katsumi. C'est la vie!!
The folks at Digital Playground have actually been really fair in their dealings and, for the record, they actually went so far as to guarantee "the artist formerly known as Katsumi" that they would NOT attempt to trademark, copyright or in any way try to appropriate the name Katsumi in their contract.
As I once said: "Katsumi Tsunami Sashimi So Sue Me!"
I'm sorry that proved to be prophetic. Katsumi is one of the best porn-star names ever, I think. Look at it this way, the name change comes as she is switching gears in her career and, besides, the way porn companies misspell names on boxcovers, she'll probably be "Katsumi" anyway.
This is the perfect example of Corporate companies killing porn. You have a girl who has busted her ass building her name as a Gonzo chick,then up comes DP with their Corporate Interests to change her style and name..........what a shame!
For the Record I have no Intensions of watching any of her scenes with DP. She's a great performer,but watching her shoot for DP,is slightly better than getting shot in the face.
Well, how about her moving to the US and keeping the katsumi name here? I mean she shoots more here and so on and so forth. This is a larger marketplace for her, etc.

Man, I've never seen a woman as beautiful or as sexy as Katsumi. And she knows what guys like. She is more exotic than the more popular Asian stars over the years such as Asia Carrera, etc. I hope she has a few more years in her.
What I would give to see Katsumi and Miko Lee take on a guy...
