I haven't seen any mentions of Kayden Kross as a potential Best New Starlet at the coming AVN awards, and I was wondering if anyone considers her a possibility. She's a beautiful girl who's done some smoking scenes, and practically her entire body of work has been released in the current eligibility period. Thoughts? Two things: 1. Her first flick, Kayden's First Time, came out on April 10, 2007. I imagine that would put her out of the eligibility period for "new starlet" at all of the porn awards - but I'm not positive, you'd have to check with AVN's dates. 2. This thread belongs in "Star Crossed". I'm moving it there.
alexis texas just picked up a nightmoves best new starlet award (fan's choice)... i'd think she would be strong contender as well.... ContactPornStars.comTheStarFactoryEnt.com
Correct. Alexis Texas and her ample behind are not eligible -- they were nominated last year. When the eligibility period for last year's AVNs closed, I think that Kayden Kross only had two, maybe three films on the market, which is why I posed the question initially. I think that, under AVN's guidelines, she is eligible this year. If so, it seems obvious that she should be a front-runner, along with Digital Playground's oft-mentioned Stoya, to take home the lucite.

Kayden had at most 2 movies out at the deadline last year making her eligible this year under avns rules (based on when the body of work comes out) As for Alexis Texas she isn't eligible because she was nominated last year.
2009 AVN Awards Category Qualifications Best New Starlet - New female performer who has had the most impact during the eligibility period (sex, acting and marketability all factored in) The eligibility period they mention is between October 1st 2007 and September 30th 2008.
^Thanks Patrick. But that doesn't tell us anything about what the rules are for someone who's made a vid before the eligibility period. I'm still confused.
Here's how I see it -- if a starlet's eligibility for the award is based on "the most impact during the eligibility period (sex, acting and marketability all factored in)...", then a video or two (or even three or four) being released prior to the months being considered shouldn't be much of a factor, and obviously it hasn't been in the past as far as AVN is concerned. Or, to further illustrate the point... Mary Carey was nominated for 2004 Best New Starlet, which (under the current guidelines) would have made the eligibility period Oct. 1 2002 to Sept. 30, 2003. Den at CAVR.com reviewed two films featuring Mary prior to October 1, 2002. The gorgeous Stormy Daniels took home the coveted trophy in 2004. CAVR reviewed four films featuring Stormy prior to the eligibility period, and didn't review one (JKP's "Young Fun") which featured the lovely Stormy and was released prior to all the others. Vicky Vette was nominated for 2005 Best New Starlet, which would have made her eligibility period Oct. 1, 2003 to Sept. 30, 2004. CAVR.com shows her first appearance in a review as July 28, 2003. Kirsten Price was nominated in 2007. Her first appearance in a CAVR.com review was February 2005. All these examples were chosen at random from a list of "Best New Starlet" nominees, but I did find it interesting that all of the nominees I chose had films released and reviewed prior to the current guideline's stated eligibility periods. That said, I'd say Kayden Kross should definitely be eligible for a nomination. (Although the final say, as always, rests with AVN's editors.) Tim Case

AVN blows. don't get me wrong... i like AVN for the most part and consider them about the most reliable source of porn news out there. but when it comes to their award shows, there's not much credibility there. seems the awards are more about politics than going to those who really are deserving. sucks.
What you say is pretty much the way I see it, too. The AVNs are about in-industry politics: who advertises the most, spreading the awards around to as many companies & genres as possible, kissing up to performers AVN may want to do an interview with/have on the cover, payback to companies or directors that invited AVN staffers to parties. The "politics" go on & on. Still, Kayden has done very well (solid performances, quality productions, personal appearances for fans, representing the industry at the California Legislature's hearings on a porn tax)this year. Deserves to be nominated.
Tim Case makes some very good points. AVN has always had a problem with 'dates' concerning Best New Starlet nominations. Kayden Kross should be nominated for sure, but for what? In my case (CAVR), Kayden is eligible for Best Newbie for 2008, but she is also a very popular Contract Star. I decided to put her in my MVP of Year nomination (for Contract Stars) because I felt she would have a better chance at winning the MVP award as opposed to Best New Starlet trophy. My favorite AVN story is when Kylie Ireland and Jenna Jameson were both in the same movie and Kylie was nominated for Best New Starlet and Jenna was nominated the next year for Best New Starlet? WTF! Den
A lot of people feel that way - but it isn'r true. One great example I can give (w/o saying what it was) was back about 10 or so years ago (back when the AVN had a much smaller number of voters and voting was ranked from best to least favorite and we gave each a numerical vote 1-7, for example) at the then adult section of the CES when a certain person not to be named came up to me and said something like "I can't believe that in (year) Dirty Bob votes for (title) as his least favorite from those nominated." I looked at him and said that he misread my vote - I said I put (title) in as my FAVORITE. He stared at me a moment, I swear his face got a little pale, and he rushed over to talk to Paul. To make a long story short, a few days later at the show (title) WON. To this day I believe that made a difference.

wtf with the secrecy if you honestly believe everything in this scenerio was above-board and legit?this fires me up just about as much as Den's Best Newby nominations in another thread.
Yes. You must have read something into it above - I inferred that they take great pains to give the actual winner a win. WHAT secrecy? Not telling who won until it is announced? Get real. I love hearing all of these conspiracy theories...most of which are started by those who didn't win...

^^ we're talking about all these misc secret people from ten years ago that you aren't revealing the names. i was saying WTF to that.
Kayden isn't new and the OP knows that. She had the Hustler contract in 2006, the Vivid contract in 2007, and the Adam and Eve contract in 20008. She's been known in the industry for a good three years. The Best New Starlet award finally got back on track with choosing the correct winner this year and it would be nice to see it stay that way.
That is wrong. Kayden needs to clear her name first, then concern herself with awards---if she is able to win her case.

actually moodyblues is wrong. kayden never shot for hustler she had no movies in 2006 during her vivid contract she had one eligible movie in 2007, not enough work to get her nominated for best new starlet It wasnt until her contract with adam and eve came up in 2008 that her body of work started coming out, almost all her vivid stuff came out after 9/30/2007 so she is very eligible in the opinion of most of the people that do the voting..or so Im told. As for her legal issues, they actually are being resolved but that will take time. When I asked the HWMIC at AVN if that had any effect on her eligibility the answer was no, none at all. She is innocent until proven otherwise. In the end it is the people at AVN who make the decision and we dont think they will penalize her because Vivid sat on her product for a year.

Her arraignment was scheduled for the 14th of this month but didn't happen because the prosecution postponed it till Dec 9 She would have plead not guilty same as she will on Dec 9 if it happens. Other than that there's nothing I can say about it except that knowing what I know I am fully confident that she will be exonerated.
Kayden has a brand new Yahoo group... Check it out: Kayden Kross Yahoo Group Kayden is a group member and promises to post regularly so it should be fun :) Hope to see you all there!
Hey guys, Steve from X-Play. Just wanted to say that we love Kayden to death here and we were really excited when she said she'd work on "Flight Attendants". And if you doubt this girl's sexiness, then hopefully these pics will change your mind: [Image not found DB] [Image not found DB] [Image not found DB] -Steve Our Sitcums Collection! ^ There is no doubt that Kayden is very sexy indeed. Perhaps you can persuade her to come and chat to us here seeing as she has done it before. Marketing herself to her fans cannot do her any harm and I know that I for one am more inclined to purchase a dvd which includes a star that I have seen posting here on ADT and taking the time to chat to her fans rather than one that just doesnt.
Hey how about this? Kayden getting a nom for Female Performer of the Year? She has some big time movies hitting like The 8th Day and the Flight Attendants hitting stores.
