Am I the only one who finds it monotonous to watch a scene only to see the same old routine played over and over again, and to hear the same old lines screamed by the girls over and over again? Only the other day I watched a scene and found that the girl was almost screaming off the same script as dozens of girls I'd watched previously. I can't think of anything, short of tons of tats, that's more off-putting than watching the very same thing only starring different girls. Anyone else wish the girls would keep their reactions natural, rather than making all the fake panting and saying the same forced dialogue in each scene? It might even encourage the male to put in more of an effort if the girl only showed what she really felt during a scene. Regarding the "Groundhog Day" scenes I keep seeing. Have they run out of ideas or something? Every scene seems to be a clone of the last, with maybe a slight variation here and there. It's very rare that I see a scene that's truly imaginative. They're normally the same old banter, the same old humping, and sometimes it's even the same old rooms! Also, there's something I've found, rather odd, about IR. Why is it that vanilla scenes can seem to take place inside and out, but most IR scenes are mostly indoors? Yep, I've seen vanilla in the garden, on beaches, by pools and even on the decks of boats, but more often than not IR is seemingly restricted to mostly indoors shoots? Very odd... Anyone got any ideas what the studios could do to take away the boredom of porn scenes?
yeah like u say keep things a little more realistic . every one whos fucked a girl in here knows they dont start all that moaning and screaming as soon as u put it in.I'd rather just hear a grunt once in a while.I like dirty talk but not when its undoubably scripted.I have wondered what it would be like if they put a few people together like a party and just told them to get as nasty as they felt like.

Yes, rather than have someone tell them what to do just tell them to get as nasty as they like. No orders, no script, nothing. I've seen porn from the 70s and 80s and the sex scenes seemed much more natural and less scripted back then, with much more natural humping and less concentration on positioning and acting to the camera. For example, I hate it when the male is forced to not go deep just so the camera can get a good view of the insertion. Very robotic and forced. Then there's the infamous "girl looking over her shoulder" sex, where she's humping cowgirl and twisting her body so she can look at the camera that's behind her. Hate that. I mean, she should be snogging the bloke, not looking at the camera! Edited by - Mojo on 3/6/2014 7:38:50 AM
I'd say the problem is that young people are adopting different sexual habits and behavior, when they come of age. But porn isn't evolving and reflecting this generational change. Porn makers keep showing sexual behavior from an older generation, perhaps because most porn makers belong to this older generation, and they don't know anything different. One new thing that's missing in today's porn films is a guy plunging his hand inside his lady's panties and fingering her clit to make her like it. Young guys are fingering their girlfriends this way, in real life, when they are kissing and fooling around. But you almost never see this kind of thing in porn films. In real life, guys make sluts out of innocent chicks by fingering their clits and giving them clitoral erections. While porn shows the opposite, where ladies tease and suck innocent guys to make 'male sluts' out of them. I think many guys get special pleasure out of debauching an innocent chick, who is a little shy and doesn't undress on her own at first, but who changes her behavior and becomes a slut as a result of her clitoral erection that she gets from the guy's fingering hand in her panties. Here is one example of what I'm talking about: Handy guy with an innocent chick This GIF isn't the best example because of the frame-change in the middle of it. But it gives you some idea of what young guys and gals are up to now in real life.
^totally agree with Dan. Seeing an innocent girl get hornier and hornier as a result of a guys actions (a little boob touch here, oops my fingers are sliding down your pants now, what's this? I'm fondling your asshole now?) only to see this once "innocent" gal become a slutty fuck beast is pretty hot. By the way, is there a series focusing on this behavior? Manuel's slutty and sluttier focuses on slutty behavior, but girls start off slutty, they aren't "transformed" by the guys advances. On a related note, I guess that it's hard for girls to cum under the pressure of a porn set (never been to one but I can imagine the lights, cameras, etc distract you). So they generally need to act (that's why we call them "performers" I guess!). Problem is, save some, few know how to really act.
I would have to agree if it's every girl doing the same thing but if it's certain girls repeating certain things then it's what gets them off even if they've said it before. I know i probably say a lot of the same shit in my scenes but that's just because that's what gets me off, if a guy isn't going to talk to me in a degrading manner then I've gotta start talking about that I'm a slut in order to get off.
Leya thats what im talking about. You are the one that decides to talk dirty not some director telling you what to say.I'm sure you guys have a pretty good idea what gets the viewers wound up.Probable the same thing that turns you on.If you're excited and into the scene I'm sure I'd see that and get into it myself.
I couldn't agree more. I would love to see natural reactions and comments by the performers. They wouldn't have to "act", they could just be themselves. There was a Megan Madsen video a bit ago that at least seemed real. I've seen nothing like it since. Innovation and imagination are dead in the industry.
The performers are selected for their looks, not their thespian skills. I'm not sure that a running commentary would be any better than the current standard, anyway. I can certainly live without hollering throughout, a la Sasha Grey. I think that a compromise between what the form allows and what the individual performers are capable of is about all we can expect. Aside from that, sex basically is the same old routine over and over again. Sure, there can be some minor variations but there really isn't that much to it.

That's just the point of this thread, I DON'T want them to act! I DON'T want them to be going by some script given to them. I want them to treat the scene as if the camera isn't there and to be as imaginative as possible. You see, I think you misunderstand me here. I'm not talking about porn with a story, I'm talking about GONZO. Nope, no script, just get on with it! The only input I want with the people making the vid is for them to agree on a theme (i.e. IR, food, gangbang, BDSM, water etc.) and agree on how much the girls want to do in the scene (i.e. anal, dp, dap, dpp). After that they'd be on their own! No fake panting (especially when they're not being fucked!), no "Ohh, it's sooo big!" or "I've got a big cock deeep in my ass!" warn out fake lines, and damn it girls, stop looking at the bloody camera when you should be kissing the dude!
I suspect that you do, you just don't think of it as acting. For example, were they not acting then why would there be space for the camera, ie, the viewer? I want them to treat the scene as if the camera isn't there and to be as imaginative as possible. You see, I think you misunderstand me here. I'm not talking about porn with a story, I'm talking about GONZO. Nope, no script, just get on with it!
Gonzo has a script and an obvious story, it just isn't the kind you associate with theater. Speaking of theater, would you stay to watch a play where the actors mumbled their lines and had their back to the audience most of the time? I ask because, essentially, that is what you are suggesting. Every kind of theater, including porn, is an external exercise because the entire point is for the actors to engage the audience, not simply each other. So, complain all you want to about porn's failure to engage you, but it won't help if you don't understand the limits of the medium. Edited by - hardware on 3/23/2014 9:34:27 AM
This is the first that I disagree with Mojo. There IS a camera in the room. That camera is us. Her looking at it adds to the realism of the shoot. We are there. When she glances our way she acknowledges our presence. We feel her desire to be with us and not the male actor with his dick in her. WE want to be the one who inseminates her, passes our genes on to the offspring. It all adds to the voyeur's experience.
its amazing that people like Hardware Knows what Mojos thinking when Mojo doesn't.Personally I totally agree with Mojo and I believe he's dead right.I thought Gonzo meant No Plot No story.I'm Old and I was here when they came out with the term Gonzo.I think Mojo was pretty clear when he started the thread.
So was I. From dictionary.com: Plot: Also called storyline. the plan, scheme, or main story of a literary or dramatic work... It is true that gonzo doesn't depend upon dialogue, but neither did silent movies. However, gonzo certainly does tell a story, even if it seems very simple and obvious to the average viewer. So what? The average Western of early cinema was simple and obvious, too. What 'gonzo' stripped out of porn movies was the setup for the sex - the 'why', if you will. Basically, gonzo is premised on the idea that the average viewer doesn't care about why. That being so, let's just skip the explanatory bits and then we can get in more stories about people having sex.
I don't give a rat's arse for some fake setup and acting. Nor do I necessarily get off on imagining that the girl's having sex with me. I'm mainly interested in watching a beautiful girl having sex and getting as kinky as she can. I'm a tad interested in maybe having a short interview with her to find out the whats and whys, but other than that it's all to do with how kinky she is, as in honestly kinky and her getting honestly turned on. I'm not at all interested in a girl having sex whilst she's subconsciously looking at her watch and waiting to get paid. Edited by - Mojo on 3/23/2014 8:37:02 PM
Acting, by definition, is fake. It is pretense. It seems to me that the real question is whether or not the acting engages the viewer - is it believable? Is it compelling? Edited by - hardware on 3/23/2014 7:44:27 PM
I understood just fine, thank you. If a performer is subconsciously looking at her watch and waiting to get paid then she isn't acting. So, as I suspected, you don't want her to keep it real. However, you do want her to act in a manner that you are convinced is real, despite the fact that she is doing it for money, her partner is some guy she just met who smells funny, she is in a room with a director/cinematographer and a bunch of mopes, a camera is six inches from her face, and the director keeps telling her to make some noise. Just like the sex you have at home, right? Fine, I'm sure we can all get behind performers doing a convincing job of acting. Now, can we get an editor who has a clue?
I really don't think you'd get what you think you would with the girls doing what you say here. Porn scenes are all about performing, performing is acting for the most part. If you leave performers to the performance to their own tastes and not perform you'd more than likely end up with some boring sex to look at. If you think about what real sex looks like it's not much to look at. What makes porn exciting is the performance that's put on. And a big part of that performance actually comes from the director having a script and/or giving the performers directions on what to do. That's why scenes from the directors at EVIL ANGEL are different than the directors at ELEGANT ANGEL and those directors are different from the directors at NAUGHTY AMERICA and those are different than the ones at DIGITAL PLAYGROUND even when the same girls/guys works at each one. If you leave it totally up to the performers and don't want them to act you'd probably get scenes with less positions because the girl might not like certain positions. If the girl doesn't act/perform she may be very quiet or look bored because she might be that way in real life or the guy really isn't doing much for her. Perhaps the performers are totally unimaginative and the whole scene looks awkward because they simply didn't know what to do. What you're really talking about here is girls or directors who put on bad performances that don't sell you on the performance. A good performance makes you think the sex was good to the girl/guy or whatever the scene is trying to accomplish and the acting looks naturalistic.
I was in the "no acting, no posing, etc." mindset until I saw some true amateur porn where there was no acting, no sense of where the camera was or what I wanted to see, etc. It was frustrating to watch. Back to the OP--a lot of what he complains about, IMO, is checklist porn. Head--check. Pussy licking. Check. Missionary. Check. Doggie. Check. Pile driver. Check. Reverse pile driver. Check. Head again. Check. Cumshot. Check. Next! But as far as being repetitive--welcome to porn. How many different ways can you film a PVI before you end up with guys wearing duck masks and reverse pile-drivers and "oh baby--do you have something that can fill the empty feeling inside me?"
Exactly. For a scene performance to be watchable/exciting there has to be some choreography and some acting to make sure the action is properly caught and the best positions are hit and the right reactions are coming from the performers.
That's not always a bad thing. With the right girls and director those often repetitive positions can still be very hot. With the wrong girl and the wrong director...not so much.
^ These experiences and the conversations in this thread highlight the extent to which people don't realise what goes into sexual performance. Performing sex seems to be the only type of performance people are reluctant to acknowledge as skilled, crafted, athletic, or even as performance. Performing authenticity is a difficult thing indeed. I don't think we would disagree with mojo that this is something desirable, but difficult to capture. I do find the resistance to accepting that it is performance quite interesting though.
@OP if your looking for originality I'd suggest you check out some of Marc Dorcel's work. Very original in that the sequence of events are really well put together in some of the scenes I've seen from his website. Only down side is that the fucking is always with condoms.
I think there's a difference between acting and putting on a show. Acting is doing as you're directed to, whilst putting on a show is like a nympho saying "Look at me, aren't I being sexy?!" It's a difference between going through a routine before pay time and sex maniacs doing what they love with pay being a bonus. I hate it when they just look like they'd prefer to be somewhere else and are being told what to do, whilst the best scenes are where the performers are obviously doing what they love and mostly forgetting about the camera, with as little interference from the cameraman as possible. One pet hate of mine is where the guy is obviously being forced to hold back from proper penetration by an interfering cameraman who wants to get a good view, whilst it's much better when the couple are allowed to pump away, again, as if they were on their own with no camera in the room. I mean, if they're loving what they're doing shouldn't they have the initiative and imagination to be able to do things creatively without some dummy with a camera having to instruct them?
I get where you're coming from and for the most part I agree with you and I'm not trying to disagree for the sake of disagreeing but there's the other side of things... The reality is that sometimes the performers do perefer to be somewhere else for various reasons. They do need to be told what to do because it's the director's vision. They can't forget about the camera because it's important to capture the action. Fans always want to see certain pairing among pornstars. But just because fans want to see a girl take on Mandingo (for example) doesn't mean that girl actually likes or even wants to have sex with him. Perhaps she wants to have sex with him but it's painful because he's so big. Perhaps there's just no chemistry between the two. Perhaps the girl is having a bad day. Whatever the case the scene needs to be shot and directors and crews just can't schedual their work around when everyone's totally into "doing what they love". So the girl/guy have to "act". They have to put on a performance to convince the audience they're totally into the sex. Some performers are better at it than others. The really good ones fool you into thinking that they don't want to be anywhere else doing anything else....and that's how it should be. But not everyone can pull it off everytime.
Is it really about "loving what you're doing" or putting on a good show? With a lot of girls "loving what they're doing" would mean one position with their boyfriend/husband. It's a performance. The performance means hitting positions the audience wants to see, and showing that performance as best they can. If given the choice to see the sex and the penetration and the girl being penetrated fully at every angle most would choose seeing a clear view of the action. That's not to say they don't want to see the girl fully penetrated but in some positions to be able to have a clear view of the action adjustments need to be made. They can't forget or act like the camera isn't there because the whole purpose of filming is to capture the action as best they can. That's why so many people claim to not like leaked celeb sex tapes...because it's two people having sex without direction, playing for the camera, simply doing what they like or feel comfortable with and lacking professional camera work. Again, not trying to a pain here... just presenting the other side of things.
^ That would be a shame. I'm finding the discussion quite fascinating, on all sides.

That's really interesting. I totally get your point, but I also think that it is possible to distinguish between a performer genuinely enjoying herself and a performer simply putting on a convincing performance. There's definitely always going to be a performance element to it, but I think it's too cynical to say that any porn sex that looks enjoyable or somewhat "real" is just the product of good acting.
I'm mentally playing the orgasm scene from When Harry Met Sally as I type this. (Also one of the early scenes in Klute, though I doubt many people here have seen that movie and know WTF I'm talking about.)
It appears to me that you are confusing 'sex maniac' with exhibitionist. The latter is the one interested in getting other people's attention. The 'sex maniac' is interested in having sex for his, or her, own pleasure. Of course, one can be both an exhibitionist and a 'sex maniac'. (I'm using the quotation marks because I don't think the term 'sex maniac' is either a particularly useful or accurate descriptor) Regardless of what motivates the individual performer, the fact remains that what goes on in porn is done in order to engage the audience, which means that the director is going to tell the performers what to do, and the editor is going to cut and paste the footage shot by the director in order to tell a story in his, or her, own fashion. We, as the audience, are free to criticize the result but it doesn't help if we don't understand what the product we are looking at actually is. ...I hate it when they just look like they'd prefer to be somewhere else and are being told what to do... Oh, sure; I don't think anybody would disagree that bad acting is off-putting in just about any context. You can get away with it in comedies and parodies sometimes, but it doesn't really fly in porn. ... the best scenes are where the performers are obviously doing what they love and mostly forgetting about the camera, with as little interference from the cameraman as possible... Here is where we get into the relationship between the performer, the director, and the observer. It is the director who is choreographing the performance; while you and I, as the observers, interpret what is motivating that performance. The performers are stuck in the middle. They may be doing a great job of following the director's instructions, but they have no control over what those are, nor over what happens in the editing bay. Thus, we need to be careful about apportioning blame when the end result doesn't work.
Sometimes yes, sometimes it's harder. Plus, there are various degrees of performance. I think most girls like the sex for the most part but I think the performance factor comes in when the girl needs to show the love the sex. Plenty of factors to consider on how much a girl must up her performance to sell the scene...The girl might like the guy on a personal level but doesn't enjoy having sex that much because of his size, his agressiveness, his inability to keep it up, etc... She may like having sex with the guy but isn't too fond of the way the director shoots. She may have had a good time at the beginning of the shoot but it's gone on to long or became a difficult shoot. There are a number of reasons a shoot might not be as good as the girl might want it and she has to put on a performance to bring it up to a certain level to make it hot/exciting. And many times the fan doesn't know. I've seen plenty of times here where a girl says she didn't enjoy shooting a scene or working with a guy that much but some people here thought the scene was great. There was a girl talking in a PLAYBOY RADIO interview about anal sex and she said she didn't think anal was all that great and could take it or leave it. I was surprised to hear that because I assumed she was really into anal and did it much more often than not and was very good at it. But that just shows she was great at dong her job and made me believe she was totally into it. Acting!!!
I totally think some scenes/performances are done by girls/guys that are absolutely really enjoying it and most of it is real. I also think a lot of it is great acting or acting in general. I want the acting to continue because if the performances can turn up the performances a few notches by acting, why would I want that to stop?

Now that's what I've been talking about, performers doing things, not because they enjoy it, but because they're being paid to do it! If a girl does any sort of sex act I want her to be genuinely into what she's doing, otherwise watching her doesn't do it for me.
^ Yep! That's why I didn't name the girl you said that...why spoil it for those who don't know. You'd never be able to tell by just looking at her anal performances.
Well if that's your line of thinking then you and others shouldn't bother girls with requests for anal, DPs, Gang bangs, IR, swallowing, working with certain stars, or whatever because if she hasn't done those things maybe it's because those are things she wouldn't or doesn't enjoy but she just ends up doing it for the money. Not trying to be funny here but just pointing out what you'd get if you actually got what you're asking for.

Then again, there's probably LOADS of things I haven't done that I simply haven't either tried or haven't even thought of doing. For example, as a teenager I hated motorcycles. I thought they were extremely dangerous and as a result wouldn't go near them. But later on someone suggested getting one. Although hesitant at first I eventually went ahead and bought one. And you know what? I was HOOKED! Even now, even though I've now got a car I'm still drawn to the local dealership! Do you get my drift here? Another example is Angela White. I seem to remember her saying that she'd NEVER do B/G scenes. I believe at the time she was an admirer of Lorna Morgan, who's career was less than spectacular even in the softcore category. Now look at Angie! She's doing G/G and B/G, and who's to say she wont go further like her girlfriend Phoenix Marie does! Things change. People change. You know? But I agree, if you ask a girl to do something and she flatly refuses then it'd be wrong to pressurise her into doing it. At least by making the suggestion you've brought her attention to it. If she says no, then that should be enough. From then on let nature take its course. Maybe at a future date she'll change her mind, just as Angie White did! I've thought of two other pet hates of mine in porn. Firstly it's when the girl gives a running commentary of what's going on. "There's a BIG cock in my ass!" Yes, we can see that dear, you don't have to tell us! Only yesterday I was watching a scene with Lexxxi Lockheart. Beautiful girl (even in her later "chunky" days). But damn, did she do a running commentary! I mean, she could've been a sports commentator! So very unrealistic, especially seeing that the cameraman was, yet again, not allowing full penetration (just the bell end) because he wanted to get his lens in there! The second pet hate is the performers doing unnatural "contortionist" positions, where there's one leg over there, another over there, an arm over there, another arm over there, head over there, all at extreme angles, again, just so the bloody cameraman can get a good look at the pathetic excuse for a penetration. You know, sometimes I just hate the cameraman and his intrusive manipulation of the performers. My advice to the cameraman is to just film the fucking scene and that's that. Interfere with the performers as little as possible! Edited by - Mojo on 3/27/2014 8:49:08 AM
For the record I never said that I would "never" do B/G scenes. I didn't "change my mind" about it. I always maintained that I would do [insert sex act here] when and IF I was ready and never before. So if I'm doing [insert sex act here] it's because I want to. And I completely agree with Draxx's last comment. I can tell you that there is a lot of pressure, and yes, it often feels like PRESSURE, from certain fans to do [insert sex act here] and I've spoken to performers who told me it makes them LESS LIKELY to perform those acts. So chill out on the demands and just let performers grow at their own pace, whatever pace that may be. Our choice to perform [insert sex act here] needs to come from our own desire for exploration not anyone else's jerk off preferences or bottom dollar.
Angela has it perfectly in perspective. No one should either be pressured to perform [insert sex act here] or feel they have to perform [insert sex act here] to meet someone else's expectation. Being in control of your life and having realistic expectations about your day-to-day challenges are the key ingredients to live a happy, healthy and rewarding life.
Your point is understood. But I'm curious how much might be people wanting to make sure their interests are known. You're at a DVD signing (or some other meet-the-fans event) and someone asks why you've never done a MMMF interracial reverse-cowgirl airtight creampie, and you say--I never knew anyone would want to see me do an interracial reverse-cowgirl airtight creampie... I know people can be obnoxious about their pet fetishes and interests. But there is a little part of me that believes in the "if you don't ask, you won't get it" philosophy.

I don't ever remember pressurising anyone to do something? As I said above, if I ask and the girl says no then that's it. At least I've brought it to her attention.
I see what you’re saying Jayo. But with the internet catering to every niche under the sun I don't need anyone to tell me that they want to see me squashing grapes between my middle toes while a 22 year old Dutch woman wearing a purple wig sings "Sweet Chile O' Mine" into my arsehole to KNOW that there is someone that wants to see me do that. I know what you guys want. Collectively, you want to see EVERYTHING. Maybe you want to see anal but not foot fetish, or curly hair but not MMF, but when it comes down to it there is someone that wants to see it. So collectively, you want EVERYTHING. I guess the questions aren't the problem so much as the way they are phrased. A lot of people aren't aware of the assumptions they make with the way they word things. People tend to say "When are you going to do a milk enema?" rather than "Would you consider doing a milk enema?". As a performer, both questions, while similar, are received very differently especially when getting 50 tweets about it in a week. And pressuring isn’t just when: “you keep on and on asking, trying to persuade her into doing something even after she's said no, definitely not” but also when “you keep on and on asking, trying to persuade her into doing something even after she's said [maybe, I’ll definitely consider it, I just like to do things at my own pace. But maybe in the future].” I’m not suggesting that either Mojo, Jayo or anyone on this forum does that, but there certainly are people who do. Anyway, you guys are all awesome and I think it’s great that you want to see us doing kinky, naughty, nasty things! So feel free to let me know what you want to see me doing, just try not to make it feel like a demand. Oh and P.S. there are plenty more surprises to come from me, you really don't know the half of it yet... *wink*
I've never really understood the whole 'fan request' thing. As much as I adore Angie, were she never to have done hardcore I'd have been more than happy just with her glamour modelling. I could gawp at her all day long. If I want to watch nasty shit - which I also love - I'll just watch someone who does that, ie. Gianna Michaels. Since the Internet changed the landscape, the weight of expectation for girls entering the glamour biz to progress to fucking and sucking must be overwhelming. I say kudos to the girls who choose not to, yet go on to become legends regardless - Sharday, Lorna Morgan (a legend in my eyes), Karla James, Michelle Bond. I was actually slightly disappointed when Angie went H/C as I don't much care for certain male talents she's since worked with - but I appreciate & respect that that was her choice and I just don't watch those scenes. Angie, was it ever a worry when you went H/C that you might be alienating fans (of which I am not one, I feel I must stress) who wanted to keep you 'all to themselves', so to speak? A glance through the pages of any Score Group publication will reveal plenty of people with that mindset.

There's no harm in suggesting. And Angie's point about only doing something once she feels good about it is a valid point for this thread, maybe the most valid. There's NOTHING I hate more than to see someone who's not into what she's doing; that she's obviously only doing it for the money. That's a massive limp dick moment for me. Do it only if you're horny for it is my advice. Good for you and good for me watching it.
I don't mind acting, I don't mind that she's doing it for the money, I want it to LOOK like she's into it, in mainstream acting the director chimes in and reins an actor in when he or she is overdoing it for the scene, tells the actor to dial it up when he or she is just phoning it in...I wish porn directors would do more of this. Like other posters I've hated scenes where the girl is moaning loud and nonstop, or the guy is talking nonstop and you just want him to shut up! Directors, do your jobs! Edited by - joneric on 4/10/2014 8:55:20 AM
Well, uh, yeah, cuz it's 'acting'. I don't need a pornstar to ACTUALLY cum while she's getting fucked, just as I don't need Julia Roberts to actually be in love with Hugh Grant in NOTTING HILL. I'm happy enough with decent acting and direction. And if you think a little bit about how porn scenes are filmed, then the notion of acting shouldn't be a surprise to you.
Funny, it never occurred to me to tweet (or Facebook comment) a pornstar asking for some particular act--or any comment, for that matter. Maybe I just come from a generation where we never expected to have any actual interaction. I could almost see myself emailing a studio with requests, but even then I would expect the email to be forwarded to someone's brother-in-law, the one who's drawing a paycheck only to keep peace in the family because he couldn't hold a job anywhere on merit, and I'd get a stock reply and my email addy sold to a mass-marketer as a spam target.
